Ahh so we finally come to this. Yes folks, after all this time, we get to see a glimpse of this elusive man, and I bet none expected to see him like that for the first time… Mora sure didn’t! I know there’s still many things that we haven’t told here, but the truth is that Mora herself is keeping many of the details to herself. She doesn’t want Randal and Alej to know all the details of her origin… At last, for now.   The story of Mora’s parents is something I been working on for a very long time, and we will see all of it at some point.  No, no plans for yet another bonus comic, dont worry, haha! Maybe in LL itself or as a side story I’ll get to do for fun later on. :)
  • Stevie

    Well..that was a bit anti-climatic…

    • Kurai

      Yup.

      • Derrath

Actually, no it isn’t, this saves the details for a later storyline, and was a very good decision.

      • Hawker

My only beef with this is that middle panel clearly should have been the end of a strip – not sandwiched in the middle of “discovering him” and “going home”. Totally kills any impact, and feels too rushed. Putting something like that at the end may be formulaic, but there’s a reason it’s typically done that way.

      • Vincent

All I have to ask is how is her father a rabbit/bunny? How does that work, what with crossbreeding… then I realized the comment on the ears (still in disbelief)

    • Cyrad

      Indeed.

Mora’s father is the center for all the conflict in this story. It’s the reason Mora throws tantrums. It’s the reason for her relationships with other characters. It’s the reason for her conflict with the only “antagonist” in the story.

To gloss over it for the sake of foreshadowing something the author admittedly isn’t planning to make integral to the story is a major disservice. It betrays the very definition of a climax and only opens more plot threads than any it might close.

Not to mention the weight the climax’s exposition carries. An author can’t just make a big reveal of this magnitude and then decide to only follow up on it as a future side story. That’s not admirable writing.

    • wookiee

i think that is the point though.

  • Lizzy

    whoa.

wasn’t quite expecting something like that. gotta say though, Mora’s dad looks pretty badass for a bunny wabbit. kinda funny how the only thing Mora inherited from him is the long floppy ears. love this page, the atmosphere, the lighting, the hair. this arc in the story has taken a completely different turn from what I expected. ><

    • Lizzy

hm, I guess I am starting to understand why so many people aren’t satisfied with how this has turned out and it is a little cliche and lacking in depth, but I still like it. and as others have pointed out, there HAS been clues leading up to something like this (like the bonus comics, Minos, a crest, suddenly working on the farm and why Ambar seems to favour Mora so much.)

however, seeing as how the main Las Lindas story never really took a fantasy/horror route, it’s a little weird. it’s like, I dunno if anyone will relate to this, but when I first watched the anime Eden of the East, it seemed like a cool mystery/romantic kinda slice of life story, but then there was this scene where this female character suddenly grew black angel wings and could “fly” and it was cool, but it broke the atmosphere of the story and made me go “..wait what?” (it was meant to be fake, though, so it all worked out). my point is I think that’s kind of how a lot of people are feeling about this and it may be just so sudden a change that people feel like the story is poorly written. HOWEVER, I still like it, I think it’s a different approach to Las Lindas and after all these years, Chalo and SK and whoever are finally getting to nitty gritty of this story.

  • http://foxfirestudios.net David Foxfire

I get the sneaky feeling that we have not seen the last of this man.

  • http://www.kitsune-realm.com Kitsune-Realm

So Mora’s father probably has the same “evil” as Ayah, too bad Mora keeps many details to herself for now.
Good that the story is getting more depth each time.

    • Sigh

“depth”…yes, that would totally be the word I’d use, not “generic”, “half-assed”, “lazy”, or “uninteresting”.

      “depth”

      • http://www.kitsune-realm.com Kitsune-Realm

Considering how the story has been so far, I indeed think its nice to have some “depth” like a mysterious new character, infested with some evil inside of him. It might make the main Las Lindas storyline a little more action packed.

Besides, with Alejandra pretty much out of the picture as main villain, this father may have good potential to take that role. The people who spied on Sarah during the Harvest Festival also have not been revealed, though I think the writers abandoned that.

I just hope this page is building up on a new story arc. By adding “depth”

    • Sigh

I see your point of view and respect it, I do. In fact, I can see what you’re saying, but I still argue that wasn’t depth, but a really bad attempt at trying to make the story interesting. It was presented in such a way that begged for the drama button (http://www.dramabutton.com/) It was cheesey and seemed to break the rules of the comic. In fact a lot of the rules got broken when digit entered the storyline – but it was more like bending at the time.

      • Derrath

One could argue that Digit’s existence( along with those fairy things) have made this semi-reveal possible and within the guidelines of Las Lindas’ Sci-fi and Fantasy setting. (Yes, people, the evidence has been blatantly here, prove me wrong~)

….wait, these is no argument about it.

      • Xain

Funny, the way I see it, this is really fixable though. It’s just a mistake in timing. There should be a gap between the reveal of the father, and what mora says afterwards. That would create more drama. Easy way to do this… just remove the panels under the reveal of the father, and let those panels be the first section of the next page. This isn’t an issue of character or plot, mora is just giving an emotional response which is consistent with how her character acts, and the vagueness of what happened is obviously a lead into another arc. The merits or lack-of in the writing for this page are lost on us until the rest of the story is revealed. It’s too close to the pivot to make any judgement in regards to writing.

But the composition would carry more weight if the the face was the last panel.

        Just my opinion.

      • Kurai

People are allowed to voice their opinions. Seriously, grow up. Not everyone is going to asspat and brown nose and say everything is fantastic. That is how you get stagnant and complacent as an artist and a writer. I agree the very rude comments are ill in taste, but many people have valid points. And you being a stubborn child telling everyone to say nothing but praise is immature, unrealistic, and biased. They're just as entitled to their opinions and giving them as you are.

  • NotFirst

Sigh, seriously? Evil science experiments that explain nothing?

Look, I respect the artwork, but the storyline appears to have little to no effort put into it. I get it, you’re busy and it’s a free comic. But, the story didn’t used to be so incredibly generic. It wasn’t really ever engaging before, but it was more-so than this. It used to have a set-up and a planned conclusion.

It was fun for a while. I’m done.

    • Spiritwolf15

I wouldn’t say trolls, more like just disappointed fans. Go back a few years and examine the storyline, come back now and look at it. The form has changed so significantly that it looks as if the comic is rushed every time.

  • Some Guy

Huh. Surprised people are upset with this. It is pretty cool and i like the link to the bonus chapters. This guy’s tats look similar to the bad guys in two of the bonus chapters.

    • the Confused One

Wait, by link, do you mean an actual hypertext link to another webpage that actually gives some context for this, or do you mean a link in the sense that the bonus comics are now connected to the main one?

  • Valgaav

Really? Everything you could’ve done, and that’s what you’re going with? Everything in the world, and a fair bit beyond it, all of the different crazy things you’ve already introduced and you could bring in, and we’re getting a glimpse of white hair and black tattoos?

Ooooh, scary, he has red eyes too.

What’s the point? What’s the basic idea behind this? The commentary makes it seem like you’re going for “Welp, wasn’t that horrible and scary?” but the actual comic presents no horror.

I’ve always had a thing for fantasy and what I’ve read about crests, has really made me interested in their story.

  • Chocothunda

    Wait a second…That red eye…I’ve seen that before…

!! Ayah from Knighthood HAD THE EXACT SAME RED EYE + EVIL AURA!! If that same evil in her was present in Mora’s father…well shit, I’d say that’s as good a reason for Mora to be terrified as any!

Solid tie in, wasn’t seeing that coming o.O

That offers up another interesting question: Is her father’s power part of the reason for her strength, or is she naturally that strong?

    • Waxazzy

Sorry to burst your bubble, but red eyes and black markings are quite common for evil or dark characters. There is probably no connection there.

For the ammount of whining that goes on in the comments section I am mystified that Chalo hasn’t disabled this feature.

    • Chrissylacat

You can say that again. *shakes head* people just dont appreciate anything these days

      • Gaddez

The part that makes this so ridiculous is that people are getting this for free.

      • TendoTwo

I have no idea where people get the notion that just because something is free, people have no right whatsoever to be judgmental about it and voice their opinions or dislike.

Seriously, this is ridiculous. A slice of life comic starts through a drama-heavy arc, constantly leading up to some big dark secret….. and what we get is some kinda superhuman cyborg dark-fantasy that is alluded to then the character claims its too scary and she cannot continue?

        http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CerebusSyndrome

The thing is, its not so much the change in tone, but the fact that its done extremely poorly. Its almost as if the author either had no idea what this big reveal should be, or just wanted to move on, and so just tried to backpedal away from it.

      • Gaddez

You obviously haven’t delved too deep into the history or lore of the setting; read Hope or Ambrars entries, it will reveal that this setting has always had fantasy overtones and that there was at one time a war.

Further, Mora’s father has some appearance similarites to the villains of the crest diaries, or do you not consider that to be part of the same setting?

  • Voss

And the sudden realization that many of your fans are just arse holes…or is that just general internet population?

    • RandyDarkshade

That is the general internet population. Some people seem to believe that just because they have anonymity it gives them the right to be total pricks. What bugs me is it’s not that people dislike the arc, it’s how people say it. They don’t have to put their views across in such a dickish manner.

      • http://www.furaffinity.net BlackWind

But the thing is that Sadly there are some unsatisfied bums out there that don’t have nothing better to do
And probably can’t write or draw a story if their life depepnded on it. Plain n simple if you don’t like the story
Move on and shut up we don’t need to hear meaningless whining!
Me on the other hand am awestruck I never would have suspected that Mora’s father was a Rabbit?
Or a Hare, in anycase let’s hope that Randal n Alej are satisfied with Mora’s reasons for leaving

    • Kurai

So people not endlessly praising this comic are assholes?

I LIKED Las Lindas when I first started reading. It was about the struggles of a woman trying to take care of something her mother left her. You got to see how she was kind of a darker hero with the way she treated everyone and got what she wanted. It has very unique characters, a lot of personality, and the battle between Alej and Mora over misunderstandings.

However, Mora hasn’t really grown as a character. Yes, she understands loving digit but she still treats people like shit (making fun of Minos’ paintings, constantly arguing and being abrasive to people who love her like Randal) Also, recently the plot has been kind of all over the place. It seems Alej and Mora made up instantly for no reason. Her dad being gone, the WHOLE REASON Alej hated her for leaving, is now revealed and nothing is explained.

It’s really a shame that people cannot be disappointed by something without people saying right away that no one is grateful and they’re instantly haters or trolls. People have a right to their opinions and thoughts about a comic or story, even if it is free.

      • Voss

All I have to say for that is that having a opinion is not a shield to be as much of a jerk as you want and it’s a shame people seem to think no one can speak towards others opinions. That said you at least voiced your opinion in a that’s not just out right insulting/attacking. Either way, to get to the point.(as i hate typing on phone) you can not like something but if you are just venomous with it then don’t expect people to respect your opinion.

  • Chrissylacat

Wonderful art as always and the story is getting interesting. Mostly wondering where you will go from here? A few people put up some good ideas. New villian, maybe find out who did that to her father? ALso let those haters leave that want to leave. I think the comment section will be less annoying now.

Ok people I have had about enough of people NOT UNDERSTANDING the story of the ENTIRE comic this includes the bonus comics which give BACKGROUND info on what happens in the main story line…..if any of you have read Las Lindas from the begining you would know it has always had a Sci-Fi/Fantasy theme to it with both magic and science to it…..Chalo ignore the trolls and keep up with what your doing us the real and true fans will stay with LL until the day the internet dies…..Oh and to you trolls and you fair weather readers out there if you dont like it…..DONT READ IT AND DONT COMPLAIN ABOUT WHAT YOU DONT UNDERSTAND!!!!

      • jwink2236

…ok why did it put my post under a reply that I didnt click…..?

  • foolish

Not gonna lie, I too feel this is a very forced ‘jumping the shark’ moment. Just about everything before this had a strong ‘slice of life’ vibe to it. Now its trying to force in… dark fantasy?

If you wanted more of that, shouldn’t this kind of stuff been introduced WAY earlier?

    • the Confused One

I agree with this, It does feel like too sudden a shift in tone. Though I do like that they are just now doing something with the fact that all of the characters are non-humans (seriously, I don't think that there was a previous scene that wouldn't had worked if they characters were just plain vanilla humans)

I think what would have worked better would have been to have her father be a fairly sucessful businessman with 2.5 children driving a 5 year old used luxury sedan in an upper middle class suburb. Have him moved on with his life, and have him be distant to Mora. This would make her feel a sense of bitter detachment (Her mother struggled for years and sent him cash but has never returned the favor, in fact he's abandoned them). Then you could hint at this whole evil thing and then that would have Given Mora a reason to dig deeper into his past to reveal this evil angle.

Again, this is how I would have done it. I am not a professional. I have never made cash off of the internet.

      *Braces self for rebuttal*

  • AlainaTheDragon

Is it bad one of the first thoughts I had was “damn look at those abs”? >//>
And the second was “damn, look at Mora in that hoodie”?

Anyway, this seems pretty cool. No reason you have to dump all the eggs in the basket at once. Also cool to see some of the inheritance of where Mora got some of her physical traits for. I hope we see more of Mora’s father some point in the future, not like, two years down the line. But hopefully you don’t leave us hanging for TOO too long! :D

  • Ross Palmer

I like this – it answers enough while leaving questions for later, this seems like a good balance. Mora found her father in some kind of prison/lab. That answers where she was while her mother was dying. What he was doing there and who he is is a matter for another time. Unless the next page involves Alejandra and Randall holding her down and tickling the story out of her or some such.

Now that Mora and Alejandra seem to be making peace, the obvious idea is that “strength of family/friends vs evil” plot is coming, with all of the cast joining together against this new villain.

And why not have some dark fastasy in LL? There has been plenty of magic and mysticism already. Its not like this is a totally new direction.

    • KS_Claw

Sooo… All of Mora’s mom’s money went to funding a secret lab?

      • KS_Claw

Gah sorry, accidentally hit the reply button to your post

  • jaf6

For everyone who doesn’t get what’s going on here: Mora’s father is supposed to be one of the BAD GUYS just like Ayah and Drake. You know, the same bad guys who destroyed Prism and the old Earth. Seriously, some people should reread this comic more often.
About the page itself, I must admit that was an interesting twist. It will be interesting to see how Minos is going to react to this.

  • Ross Palmer

Also, Mora said she found Pure Terror – that doesn’t specifically say “Her Dad is Evil” – maybe she meant that the place he was in was doing evil to him. We already know he ran away. He went voluntarily, he wasn’t dragged away in chains. He sounds to be as much of a victim as a potential villain. If he got out, would Mora try to take him in and forgive him?

  • A Troll Under the Bridge

This happened to me once. A friend’s grandmother swung by our school and she was kind enough to think of me when she got him lunch. Now, she knows nothing of what I like, and I’ll tell you I’m a picky eater. She gets me something that, under normal circumstances, I would not have eaten. But she didn’t have to do it, she did it because she was thoughtful. And I ate it knowing that, while not the best lunch I’ve ever had, someone was kind enough to treat me to a nice little lunch. I didn’t pay for it, did I? Consider this ‘that one thing you would probably not eat, but was a hand-out from a nice person and you might as well enjoy it.’

My point here, it’s free, people. Be thankful you even got it.

    • Kurai

It’s free, stop having opinions and thoughts about the content and instead endlessly praise it waahh.

      • A Troll Under the Bridge

Of course someone missed my point. I’m not happy about this turn-out either, mind you.

  • Lumaria

Does seem a bit strange going from harvest festivals and dramas about who had wrecked things up for who. I didn’t see this coming but neither am I surprised after reading the side comics, the world seemed very mystical making this comic seem a bit strange as it has been going so long with just slice of life setup + ghost robots. Its stirring the story pot up and adding spice, but I am wondering if you might have tossed the whole can of chillipowder in adding a flavor to the comic that really wasn’t the taste that lured some of us to being fans. (Sorry if this is confusing its 2 am here >< )

  • RKC

Shouldn’t suprise me some fans are nitpicking this page afterall some fans nitpick the ME3 endings.

    • KYamato

ME3′s endings were absolute crap. While this is cliche it also may serve as an important point for how the story will move forward. It also could explain why Ambar has such an interest in Mora.

    • MIB victim.

The fans of the ME franchise PAID for those games, thank you. It’s also a fact that EA and Bioware’s “artistic integrity” made a LIE out of what their advertising, game content, and comics/works have been promising for years.

Ask yourself, would you like it if your car mechanic, whose been good to you for near a decade suddenly decided, that to make you come back and spend more money, he’d intentionally loosen the bulbs in your tail light so it would fall out while driving?

  • RKC

Wait I just realise something. If her father got that power thing then would be a rare chance that Mora herself would possess that ability too??

  • Kizzness

Interesting build up… Certainly not what I was anticipating, and really not sure how to feel about it. I suppose there is a time for it, and if we got too far into Mora’s background, the story would fall flat on its face right after… And I can appreciate the difficulty in creating a complex world, wanting to explain everything, but not wanting to skim over key details. With that said, I find it difficult to complain when there’s so much to digest and not enough time to get to all of it.

Also, is her dad a bunny or something? (though, I suppose it would explain her long ears D:)

  • TheCultist

Another thought: Mora’s dad is just the evil scientist who overlooks the whole project and Mora just stumbled upon one of his test subjects.(the thing we see in the panels)So Mora’s mom had to send money to fund the experiments, being one of many potential sources.

On the notion of long ears: Huh, I never thought about that. :X I just assumed they were a thing like blue eyes or a big nose :X

    • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

My guess is that he's not a scientist or researcher… but rather a guinea pig… no offense.

      Guinea Pig: "None Taken"

No, my belief is that before Mora was born, Mora's father was forced to leave the farm in order to go into hiding. This was a means to protect the Linda family from either himself and what lurks inside of him, or the people who were after him (whoever they might be). But Diana truly loved him, and wanted to help anyway that she could.

Therefore, Diana had to send funds to help cover costs through underground channels: black markets, smugglers, people who know how to cover their tracks and make sure that their parcel reaches the destination with no followers. Mora had to follow this trail in order to locate the whereabouts of her father.

But my guess is at some point, he was caught, and is now trapped inside that facility, probably disguised as a hospital on the outside, but serving a much more dangerous purpose inside.

But poor Mora… whatever she discovered in there along with her father… it caused her to turn and run away, and keep running, all the way back to Las Lindas.

And while we now know more about what happened to him… something tells me Mora's not going to be able to run anymore.

  • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

    *Adjusts bowtie*

    SO! What do we know.

We know Mora’s father is being detained, likely against his will, in a laboratory of sorts disguised (likely) as a hospital. A building whose existence is apparently not something people are supposed to know. That would explain why Mora had to go through underground channels in order to locate the complex. Furthermore, I believe detained as opposed to “voluntarily staying in” since I’d be very uncomfortable if I had my arms held up, tubes coming out them, while sitting in some rather uncomfortable chair in a dark, isolated room. If I was donating my body for science, I’d prefer to be resting on my back in a comfortable bed with nice amenities and also unconscious so I wouldn’t feel the pain of having tubes draining something out of me.

Now, WHY is he being detained?

Apparently there is something he has that the people holding him want. Something not in his possession, but rather something that is PART of him. And judging from Mora’s monologue, the reason he left Diana was because this PART of him is something dangerous; something that could hurt her AND Mora if not more. Just like how Bruce Banner continues traveling because he’s the Hulk; he doesn’t want to risk hurting anyone, especially those he cares for.

While I’m not fairly certain about what it is, I do believe that it’s the same peculiar energy/power that Ayah used when she fought Joy, Kate, Drake, and Hikari over in Knighthood. The tattoo around his eye and left arm are similar to the ones Ayah and Drake both had, and when Ayah unleashed this power, the tattoo vanished. The power also has a side-effect that make the wielder’s eyes glow, but their eyes can turn back to normal.

WHY Mora’s father? Where does he fit into all of this.

While information on the Crests, Knights, and what they were fighting for is widely available, what ISN’T anywhere to be found, not even in Gonzalo’s ancient archives from the Animal Warriors of Neo Earth website, are details on the ENEMY! Ayah and Drake first appeared in Knighthood, and Mora’s father never appeared before, EVER, until now.

If you look at the three of them closly, they all have common traits in common: long ears, black nose, tan-ish skin w/darker coloring around their ears, and they can have children with primes. Yet, it’s still not identified if they are all the same species, or if they are primes to begin with. As of yet, this “enemy” doesn’t really have a name yet, or at least one that I know.

But they are organized. Ayah mentioned that there were Elders, that Drake was a “Mutt” who was given a task to prove himself (instead he got the hots for Joy). While physically adept, he did not appear to have mastery over the energy like Ayah had. And if he is a byproduct of the as of yet unknown species that Mora’s father appears to be a part of and a prime, then that would also explain why Mora can’t use the same power too.

Still, very little is known about them other than that they want revenge for what happened long ago, when Neo Earth was created, and to EXTERMINATE all the Primes (and possibly humans too) on Neo Earth.

But whoever they are, Ambar, Minos, Grace, Kavin, Bengala, Kate, and the rest know exactly who they are. And they all knew that Mora was connected to them because of her father.

I do believe that Minos did not in fact “bump into” Mora by accident very early in the comic. He was there to SPY on her! Knowing who her father was, he was assigned by Ambar to monitor her to keep watch for any signs of enemy influence or connections. (or at least that’s my theory, give or take what you will) But given that Mora just wants a normal life, I imaging Minos didn’t believe there was anything to worry about. Or at least until now when we learn that Mora has known something for a long time and does not want to share what she knows.

This has been building up for a good 10 years now, and it seems like just now, we’re finally getting some answers. And most of them lie with Mora’s incarcerated father.

So! Who’s up for storming the enemy base and performing a jail break? It’ll be fun!

    • http://www.kitsune-realm.com Kitsune-Realm

Now, where are those people who commented on that the writing sucked?
Even though you are speculating, a lot of what you say actually does make sense and connects.
I doubt that Ayah and Drake are the same species as Mora’s father, but they do share the same powers. Which is probably no coincidence since Curran, the writer for Knighthood had joined the Main story writing team for Las Lindas.

The reason Minos and Ambar are taking interest in Mora might indeed tie directly to her father, and the strange power inside of him. I also believe it is the crests who are detaining him in that hospital.

anyway, your comments made a lot more sense, im up for a jail break! Lets unleash hell on Neo Earth and Gossamer city!

      • RandyDarkshade

There are quite a few comments at the top that say how the writing sucked.

        • http://www.kitsune-realm.com Kitsune-Realm

          I know… I was only making a statement.
Since how OtakuMan summerises the story, I don’t get the impression of suckish writing.

      • Kurai

except this is all speculation that is very well worded. The plot thus far does not even hint at most of it, and it should be up to the writer, Chalo, to draw my interest, and not a speculation in the comment section.

I shouldn’t have to read a comment to say ‘oh that makes sense, and that makes it more decent’

      • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

And let's not forget that MossKat has been writing for LL for years now while Chalo covered art duties.

Still, it amazes me that despite the allure of ample bosoms and sculpted figures, very few seem to be able to connect the dots that detail the world. Ambar even told Sarah the origins of Neo Earth in excellent detail (minus a few facts, such as the fact that she was there, making her over 1,000 years old at least)

But then again, not everything is obvious. I'm still surprised no one else has seemed to realize that Kate has TWO children: Shin and Hikari, and both with her husband: Bengala.

    • Jarimor

And like that i do believe you have given the trolls the declaration (coughs) , ‘HAVE AT THEE OGRE, I SHALL CLEAVE UNTO THEE A NEW ASREHOLE!’

      • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

What? An army of trolls charging at me with axes, swords, and maces?

Well then, there's only one logical thing to do then!

        Brace yourselves and…

        …GERONIMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

  • cenaris

So… uh, what happened exactly? Who is he?

    • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

That is Mora's father, as confirmed by the comment Chalo left underneath the comic. This is the first time in over 10 years of his art career that he has ever been drawn.

  • remmus

ok, so you build up to a resolving reveal point….and don´t resolve anything and just swing back to “I can not tell”

Also am I the only one a bit sad the comic seams to slowly leave the slice of life style of it´s humbles beginning…and is slowly gonna become heroes save the world comic number 5 bazzilion.

    • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

That's the problem: it was never a Slice of Life comic to begin with; really.

If everything save for BaB is considered canon, and taking into consideration the fact that this story has been worked on for over 10 years by Chalo, Mosskat, and Curran, then I can safely say that there's a lot more to this than anyone may have suspected.

      AIN'T IT GREAT!? :D

  • ugh

Jumping the shark indeed… so so disappointed.

I’ve been reading for years and I was hoping her Dad would just be a normal asshole, there were so many other ways to go about her parents. I’m really sick of this “evil crest” bullshit. It’s such a cop out. I really don’t even care what happens anymore, you built up the reveal of her dad for years and gasp, he’s a lousy crest, what else is new. So done lol

So what, does Mora have super sayin powers waiting to come out now? Give me a break.

    • Sieglinde

If you think well…we had it coming. It was already told that Mora would fight a great evil, and i don’t think she could do it by being a normal farmer (except this evil was world hunger, LOL). Also, we don’t know about Mino’s story, why Mora gained Digit, why the “cat sisters” are running…too much things point to this kind of stuf.

      • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

Oh really? When was it said she'd fight a great evil? I must have missed that bit.

Also, Minos was and is one of the 6 Crests that served the evil Drakonian Emperor but changed sides after he realized the evil he was doing. He is over 1,000 years old, lost the love of his life to someone who used to serve under him when he was a general (granted he was also holding her prisoner at the time), and has been wandering Neo Earth for centuries as penance for his sins and possible acts of genocide.

Mora gained Digit because Minos asked Ambar, who was on the side of Earth 1,000 years ago and who had battled Minos years before, to help and likely informed her of the knowledge he gained from Mora. Digit, as a reflection of Mora's heart, will reveal Mora's true self and nature to the Crests which is key given the nature of her father.

Rachel and Sarah are running because they've been street urchin orphans for years, running away from the orphanage they grew up in together because Rachel didn't want to lose her best, and only, friend from being adopted. What Rachel doesn't know is that Sarah is actually a direct descendant of the Royal Family that ruled Primus, and is supposed to take the throne and rule Neo Earth in place of Ambar… IF she's caught.

This is all filled in on details if anyone does a bit of research or is a TRUE fan of Chalo, MossKat, and Curran's work.

  • Agni

    Jeez, all of the *whining*…

Why can’t people just appreciate something that’s free, instead of picking it apart anytime something happens that they don’t agree with? Its freaking *free*. Just because some of you don’t like it, what, you’re going to bash it into oblivion until the author/artist loses heart to continue it or something? If you can’t enjoy it, then nobody should?

    Grow up already, people.

Its free, and the art is always nice and I’m interested in seeing where this goes next, even if some of you aren’t.

    • remmus

so just because it´s free we should be robbed of the freedom of speech? Chalo is a public story teller, free or not critique is always to be expected and frankly critique (when presented in a none offensive, adult manor) is the nourishing substance that helps a story teller grow.

      • Kurai

        Amen.

      • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

I agree that you are right that any artist, writer, or what not who puts their work out there for people to watch, read, see, listen, etc. must be open to subjects of criticisms and analysis.

But that doesn't mean he has to bow to their whims either.

After all, this story has been worked on for over a decade, and has had side stories and more told over the years to expand the Neo Earth Universe.

What people aren't seeing are the clues and hints that have been scattered throughout the comics, as nothing has changed in over a decade. This is the same story that was thought out and planned more than 10 years ago.

It's just that now we're getting to the good stuff!

    • Person

Lots of Web comics are free, have amazing art, amazing stories, and don’t rely on massive boobies to draw in their fan base.

      • ?

Then again lots of comics are good, too and not just recycled "LOOK I'M AN ANIMES" with furries slapped on it.

  • Mak

Kinda anti-climatic…. What I don’t know is if this whole comic was planned from the very beginning or if it is written out of the blue as time passes by. Either way the art is good as always, and that’s what keeps me coming back :)

  • http://www.furaffinity.net/user/maverikat/ MaveriKat

I am genuinely surprised that Mora’s father is a rabbit. Here I thought with her ears and her being still being mostly equine, her father would’ve been a donkey. Still though, I am unsure how to feel. I can understand this is important but it feels like it’s lacking some kind of punch. I was expecting an interaction not… well… “I got scared and ran away”. While I’m glad some mystery is over, it just feels like it opened the flood gates for more questions rather than answering anything besides what species he was. Also, Chalo… great work on the art you drew for my pal Bornvictim. Absolutely superb!

    • Darkguyver2020

Equine? She is not a Horse or a Donkey. She is a cow, so the term you were looking for was Bovine.

    • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

I don't know about you, but this answers a LOT of questions for me. Think of this as "42". You got your answer, but do you know what the question is?

      Ahhhh… now that's the rub, isn't it?

But that's okay, nothing a little research into Chalo's history can't solve. It's just things are finally coming full-circle after 10 years.

  • The Dirty D

Mora, half Cow, half rabbit, half Ho.

    • Hfar

So you’re saying she had a third parent that was a Ho Ho? ;P

  • ugh

People are allowed to have an opinion you don’t agree with, and honestly it makes you look worse for calling it “whining”. I’m not whining, I’m legitimatly disappointed by a story I’ve become invested in. When someone has been invested in a story they’ve read for years, and they’re disappointed with how the plot goes, damn strait they’re allowed to be pissed. And the stuff that isn’t free to read has been disappointing too. News flash! You can read porn online for free already :P

Thrilled I didn’t spend a single penny on this tripe and you’re right lmao, if you don’t like it don’t read it! So I wont anymore. I feel like 8 years of reading has been flushed down the toilet.

  • http://www.furaffinity.net BlackWind

@ugh if you don’t like the story move along then and let others enjoy the unfolding secret story

    • Kurai

no one is making you read the comment disagreeing. You can still enjoy the comic and ignore all the comments. People are just sad, like myself, that we spent so much time reading and really liked the story, and now it’s seeming, to us, like it is just one disappointment after another. So yes, of course we’re disappointed, and wanted to voice the opinions we have just like every other single person here. Just like you liking it and wanting to say so, we have the right to do the opposite. Two way street.

  • wolfzero001

So she is a cow/bunny girl? O.o Would explain why her horns and other cow features aren’t as big as Ms. Diana’s… plus the ears. Lol xD Still think she is very pretty though. :3 Sorry to say this, Chalo but this one was a bit of a miss story wise. :c The art still looks amazing as always though.

  • Banter-O-Rilley

So THAT’S where Mora gets her ears; it was strange seeing the length of them, considering her mother was also a bovine-type Prime.
This also bring to mind: is Mora somehow related to Drake and Ayah? Maybe they’re cousins…?

Given the nature of the comments and several theories going on, it’s really unexpected, this kind of revelation, and it brings up lots of possible Ties with the other stories.
Generally, the Main Story has dealt with Comedy and Drama, and Romance…and now there’s going to be Battle? Interesting!

If it’s true how everything is connected, and by the way Amber has ‘moved things along’, I can’t help but think that somehow she’s REALLY behind everything.
As the Crest of Wisdom, she must be rallying the troops this way, but that’s just a guess…and speaking of it, could Sarah also be connected with the Crests, what with the Unknown Watchers in the lurk…?

Let’s see where this goes, then. Onwards!!

    • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

Sarah is and isn't connected with the Crests. Truth is, she's actually Ambar's SUPERIOR in terms of rank in government and leadership. She just doesn't know it yet. I have a feeling Ambar suspects it, and maybe even knows it (what with being Crest of Wisdom and all), but probably is just fine letting Sarah live her happy life without the burdens of royalty and running the planet (or at least the continent).

Just as long as nothing happens that requires Sarah to ascend to the throne and fast.

  • http://kid-goten.deviantart.com/ Goten

This comic becomes soooooo much better if you ignore the comics. Thanks for the hard work chalosan.

    • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

"This come becomes so much better if you ignore the comics…"

…wait, what? Did you mean "ignore the comments"?

If so, I can see why you'd feel that way, but I think my deductive reasoning and theories might be worth a read at least.

      • http://kid-goten.deviantart.com/ Goten

        Meant to say comments, lol.

People are making a bit too big of a deal oveer this page. Oh well.

      • http://www.furaffinity.net BlackWind

Especially when you spring tis bombshell info of Sarah being of royal bloodline which feels inconcievable, and yet there might be something to that theory when some mysterious people said "at last we've finally found her" during the harvest festival party when Sarah was dressed in digit's nano outfit of sorts

  • nightfoxnirvana

Honestly, I like this comic and this little twist. Yeah, people can bitch and whine that Mora’s dad looks like a “Terminator-ripoff” or that this isn’t what the comic should have been. First, I’d say people who have a beef can stop watching or stop whining and take it with a grain of salt. This is Chalo’s comic, not yours. DEAL WITH IT.

Second, I would wholeheartedly disagree with anyone’s sentiment that it’s cliche. The world this comic is set in has a farm, yes, but it’s also a futuristic rebuild of the Earth, with many technological advances either shown or hinted at that would have sci-fi fans from the 60s jizzing themselves, and you honestly never expected something along these lines to happen to someone?

Lastly, I’d say it’s more cliche to have Mora find her dad on his deathbed or as the jackass, lack-of-ethics head of a major corporation and have that come back to bite her in the ass. This would be horrifying for anyone to find when searching for their presumed-to-be deadbeat dad who left. So yes, I like this comic.

    • remmus

ironicly the loudest bitches are the ones who love the comic, I myself love the comic because it´s always been grounded in everyday life, sure the fancy pansy sci-fi is there, but it was just the spice on top that gave the grounded drama and humour flavour….now it starting to feel like it´s gonna slowly slide to a good vs evil plot we seen…well everywhere else among web comics.

So trust me, most of that whining comes from a loving heart, believe it or not X3

  • Victor

    WHOA. O.O

  • Gargravarr

    So… Mora’s a partial bunnygirl? Sweet.

  • http://laslindas.katbox.net/ Carbuncles21

ok definitly wasn’t expecting that at all nice one

  • OneManCOMICS

(In dark, creepy voice) …Pure evil…

  • antcow

Huh, so that explains the ears, I thought that Mora father was human.
So with this I bet there could be a battle at some point.

  • Not So Silent Bob

Her dad is a big buff bunny man? That explains why her ears are so long. For the longest time I was wondering why the artist made her ears so big, cow’s ears aren’t that big and long. Here I thought it was an accident with the proportions or something, and error made by the artist but now I see that you were going somewhere with it. Kudos.

By the way, what’s the story with her dad anyway? Judging by the looks of the thing he’s hooked up to, I’m guessing it’s either one of those “Genetically-Altered-Super-Soldier” type of stories, or a “Trying-To-Become-An-Immortal-All-Powerful-Being-Through-Science-And-Maybe-Take-Over-The-World” type of deal. I kinda doubt it though, because either one of those stories wouldn’t really fit with the story of Las Lindas…This isn’t an action comic, it’s more of a romantic comedy/drama type of comic most of the times, so unless Mora puts on a skimpy outfit and a cape and become a comic book hero, that super-soldier or whatever kind of story wouldn’t fit in in the world you created.

    • antcow

He he.., a furry Blood Angel space marine.
      Sure, why not :)

      • razorbrun645

A loyalist to the Emperor? It could work given the history of NeoEarth.

  • Sunnie Kolme

Oh shit what. I was NOT expecting that.

Also, lol at all the people bitching. You don’t pay for this strip, you pay for the bonus arcs if you pay at all. Enjoy the however long of reading you’ve had, and sorry there’s no longer enough angst and unexplained anger in the plotline to keep you interested. Obviously Mora’s father didn’t get explained because that isn’t the point of the storyline right now. The point is healing between the three friends, and have you forgotten about Alej’s stone? I’m sure her father will be explained someday, but just because there’s a reveal of something big doesn’t mean it automatically has to be explained RIGHT THIS SECOND. It’s called FORESHADOWING.

    • Cyrad

Okay, time for a lesson in narrative.

Foreshadowing is used to build up a climax or big reveal (which is essentially an exposition climax) or make them more satisfying. A climax resolves a plot thread. If a climax is used as foreshadowing and doesn’t resolve anything, it fails as a climax.

This is why fans are upset. This was supposed to be a major climax for the story: the reason why Mora is a jerk that throws tantrums and the reason for her disagreement with Alej. Instead, it ended up raising more questions than answers.

You’re right. Mora’s father wasn’t the point of the story line. But now it is, because it’s the plot thread that’s keeping the whole conflict between Mora and her friends from being resolved. And the author has no plans to follow up on it.

“Sorry, your princess is in another castle,” says the author, “And maybe someday when I feel like it, I’ll actually have her be there.”

  • kawaiiChii

Is… he a rabbit? This is a serious question, ’cause then it explains Mora’s long ears.

    • Strongspank

That was what I was thinking, at first I thought he was a cow but he didn’t have the horns. so i thought he was a rabbit.

  • RandomRedneck

    Uh…what?

  • http://laslindas.katbox.net/ Carbuncles21

dear god it’s worse than mora thought they stole his pants

  • MadLarry

So Mora’s father is some kind of twisted evil abomination…

    Well, that explains a lot.

  • Neku

    Welp. I. Hm.
I can not help but be reminded of M. Night Syamalan’s ever-infamous “What a twist!” when I see this. And unfortunately, given his track record, this is not a good thing. We have one single person here who can make any sense out of it, but it’s pure speculation that Mora stated in-comic she did not want to elaborate on.
This is something I see as potentially good if it was planned from the start and meant to be tied in to everything that’s happened, eventually. If it was indeed a one-shot cameo meant to inject a little something dark and mysterious into the comic, though, I’m afraid the “Anti-climactic” complaint wins it out.

  • Len

Okay, really people, why are you complaining? This has been foreshadowed for a very very long time. The people complaining are the ones who haven’t been paying attention to the comic or keeping up with what has been going on in the bonus comics, deviant art, and chalos tidbits for years.

Minos is the Earth Crest, why the the world do you think he is on a farm, in the middle of nowhere? Why do you think one of the primes came to visit her? I am personally very excited to see what has been building finally come to the surface. If some of you are disappointed, I’m sorry, but the comic really hasn’t changed.

    • Neku

Please be fair about one thing: The people that are complaining are the ones who haven’t been looking at exactly how much non-canon comic content? If it’s there to learn, that’s great. But if it’s there to learn only by a large amount of searching outside the comic, then its placement in the comic is questionable. That’s like telling someone to play all of a game’s sequel just to find a small bit of content in it that was foreshadowed and left hanging in the prequel. Able to be done, but just as able to be complained about.

  • james

huh…I guess…I was wrong? it was a contamement lab?

  • Cyrad

I expected this plot to have an anti-climatic ending that has little to no impact on the overall story, just like every other plot I’ve read from this comic in the past 8 years. Out of the cliches this comic could pull out from the bottom of the barrel, I admit I wasn’t expecting genetically altered super soldiers.

  • MR.Letdown

this had amazing potential to be something that could have M.Night Shyamalaned us,or at least made the plot deep…..i’m dying at the inside.there are too many side stories, and over dramatic reactions. really, just turn it into a graphic novel, and at least i can have something to read.

    • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

That'd actually be a GREAT idea for a KickStarter!

Nekonny just finished his… I wonder how much Chalo would need?

He could do a campaign just for the Crest Diaries, an entire graphic novel that tells the complete story of the Ancestral War!

Now how much would that need to work?

  • Deathmatch

    Wait,her dad’s a monster?1

    • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

      I don't think he's a monster, per se…

…but rather that there is a monster inside of him.

      Think Bruce Banner or Hoenheim

  • Blue Sly

Been reading this comic since March 2011 when “Driving Under An Influence” page was out, and… this is a first time I felt disappointment in this comic. I was sorta expecting him to be a rich arrogant snob, which the gate was sorta hinting to me… but this… I honestly would expect in a “super hero” comic.

I’m not going to stop reading this comic just because of this one disappointment, but… it just felt rushed, to me. Also a bit cliche. Then again, it could be the lack of detail Mora is giving that is sending this disappointment to me, and maybe to others.

I do see where you’re going with this though… probably anyway.

  • AACMIV/ac2

i was expecting a “george lopaz” thing where he was rich and needed a kidney, but this is better, brief but better

  • Marathonian

While it is valid an answer; the backstory on this constructed world is truly staggering on its size, scope and genre; it does feel rushed. I can understand the disappointment, and I agree, just because something is free it is not inmune to criticism, but it feels to me people are assuming that the reveal here presented will automatically shift the focus of the comic from a slice of life story to some sort of generic fantasy hero story, which I feel is assuming too much, it’s a piece of backstory, not something that happened just now.

  • Moneybags

    He looks a bit familiar.

  • Derrath

I love how impatient and ready to jump to conclusions 80% of the above posters are…. It reminds me of my youth~

  • Conspiracy Threorist

Obviously what is happening right now is Commander Shep-…I mean…Mora…is under the influence of the Reap-…I mean…the blow to the head, therefore making her imagine things that aren’t real. This is a complete and total FU by the company that is releasing the product and how dare they make us, the loyal fans, go through such a sad and pathetic twist in the narrative!

We should demand further content and changes right away and let us, the loyal fans, know what really happened to our beloved characters!

I expected much more from the writers of Las Lindas.

I was excited to see a cool and emotional reveal of her father, but instead I get some cheesy fantasy red eye crap.
The pictures are cool, but that’s it. It only reminds me of Micheal Bay… terrible writing, but pretty visuals.

I would honestly can whoever thought this up and I hope to god you explain this FAST or no amount of boobs will save this comic. LOL

Hmm… Well, I can see where your going with this and how you supposed it would all fit in with the plot, though maybe you should have cut this part out, because some people really just aren’t smart enough to read EVERYTHING you post, including all bonus arcs i your general gallery.

I am a little disappointed I’ll never know what was so terrified about this father, but I can live with it.

    • Neku

Thank you for being the one who understands “the only people who get this are the ones who have seen everything you’ve ever done”, instead of condescending about the fact to anyone who has not read it all. :3

      Mora's father… not so much.

  • Kagemarou

It gets really tiring seeing all the “OMG THIS IS SUCH A TERRIBLE CHANGE IN THE STORYLINE!” People can’t really just learn to enjoy the story as it comes and not be so critical about each change, iv’e been reading LL for some time now and this actually answers one of the big questions to me about her father, i’m loving how it weaves into the knighthood arc, which means more to work with down the road and more revealing information! In my honest opinion a great page Chalo, keep up the good work! d=(^-^)=b

  • Hidari

Personally speaking, and I’ve been reading the comic since the day page 1 came out (never really posted anything, though), there have been some high and low points to Las Lindas and its story, but overall, I’d say that the experience is enjoyable.

Not really sure where the Mora’s Daddy portion of this arc is meant to go in the future, not sure if it’s necessary or not, not sure if I like it or not. It did make me go “well, this is weird” in my head, and perhaps a more powerful dramatic effect would have been produced if, say, less were physically revealed (it would certainly have made me more curious and interested in the topic, even if Mora did ditch said topic in the end).

I can see where a lot of the unsatisfied comments are somewhat justified, but not to most of the extreme extent that a lot of them share (Read: “Red eye crap”? = Look at Minos lately? “Cliche”? Sure. Insert link to TVTropes here–there’s a cliche for everything. I’d address more, but I don’t want to come off as flamebaiting). Just chill and enjoy the parts you like and don’t stress too much over the things you don’t.

Oh god, I can think of so many animes that “influenced” (read, they copied directly) that one panel alone, let alone this entire arc. Seriously, get a writer. I’ve been reading this comic for a good long while and it’s just getting bad now. Like, really, why does her father have to be some evil experiment thing? It’s like reading the description for a fourteen year old’s sonic OC on Deviantart.

    • Kurai

Oh my God I can’t breathe enough to high five you or applaud your point

  • Explosion Zuruck

Death is no deterrent. But what I saw in his eyes was sorrow. Pure sorrow.

  • http://laslindas.katbox.net/ Carbuncles21

with as many differen media anime etc and other crap thats been out over the years no matter what happens theres always gonna be someone who points to something and say cliche just shut up sit back and enjoy the story for god sakes

  • Razer

I’ve read through the entire story and while the tech etc, should fit, this was badly done. I like the sci-fan and all of that but this was just not well executed. Also the statement, “What I saw… was pure TERROR.” doesn’t make much sense as the guy she’s looking at doesn’t look even remotely afraid, much less terrified.
Another thing, if you need to read a bunch of (incomplete) bonus arcs to follow the main storyline then the author is not doing their job well. The main storyline should stand on its own, the bonus arcs should be incidentals that have no real bearing on the story. That is, back story that you might WANT, but don’t NEED for the story to make sense, or if you NEED to read a bonus arc to understand something it should be referenced in the comic, a little box with ‘*read knighthood for more info*’.
I don’t have nearly the time invested that many of the others do, but I can understand their aggravation. There’s this big build up, then, “Yeah, I found him, not gonna talk about it though. Moving on…” The fortunate thing here is that this isn’t the end of the story or the comic, so this can still be salvaged, and maybe the next page will make this one better, but a more in depth explanation has been promised at some point. There are still several unexplained elements in the story, explaining any of them at this point would be a bonus.
One more point, yes the comic is free, but if you don’t keep your readers satisfied then there is no one here to buy the things that aren’t free. So having your readers let you know that they are unsatisfied is a good thing if you want people to stick around and buy the stuff you’re selling.
I’m dissatisfied with the way this with the way this particular piece was done, but I’m definitely nowhere near the leaving point yet.

  • Codeepfly

I’m actually content with this. To me it seems there is so much pure evil and fear that we need to take it piece by piece. Also everyone who keeps telling them to hire a writer just stop. Honestly could you do better? Make your own story and illustrations to try and compete. Plus it’s free! It’s free! Just enjoy it or stop following the comic. Again though I’m loving the story and I’m excited to see what the next direction is.

    • Anon

I wouldn’t say it’s free seeing that this comic is running on donations, in fact I bet if it never got any donations at all it wouldn’t be alive.

and for the record, you don’t need to be a chef to know that their food is awful, that rule applies to art, writing, and music. Las Lindas’ writing has always been awful. Its people like you who has shit tastes that makes sure bad ANYTHING become popular.

    • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

Not to mention he already has MossKat and Curran doing the writing too! He doesn't need to hire a writer, he's had one this entire time!

  • Anon

Ok Chalo, I have to ask you this: Is Las Lindas a Slice of life with a hint of fantasy or is it just a fantasy sci-fi story?

You were “ok” with some parts having a hint of sci-fi in it and still kept it mostly being slice of life but right now its like the comic is having issues of what kind of genre its suppose to be.

  • Anonymouse

Paging Henry Winkler; you’ve just been bested. Please report to the Katbox if you wish to reclaim your shark jumping title.

I don’t understand why everyone is so upset.
    -_-
I happen to enjoy twists and what not~
If you don’t like the comic, don’t read it!
No one is forcing you to so stop complaining.

  • Deathmatch#2

    Ho-ly shit…..

  • That Ome

I’m not at all surprised by this. I don’t happen to think the writing is bad at all either. Frankly how could this really be a big surprise to anyone. There’s friggin flying green women, the primes, and digit. Frankly, it should be obvious that LL is a mixture of several genres. There is no gotdamn rule that really says you pick one genre and that’s it -_- I won’t tell you all to shut up with your whining. Some of you are just whining though. You’re not providing any constructive criticism, you’re just talking out of your ass because you have a keyboard. And seeing that this one page doesn’t say much, there’s no telling that he’s a gotdamn experiment either. You assume so because he’s attached to some wires. Come on now. It could be a damn base and he’s being held there and the wires are what’s keeping him alive. Who knows. I personally just want to see where this goes now that Alej is no longer (apparently) the antagonist. I doubt it’s going to take the route you’ve all assumed. It might just fall off the bridge like the people spying on Sarah and return to how it was.

    • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

      Good observations!

I've been seeing lots of people keep saying "Slice of Life!", "Slice of Life!" all over, but what if…

…what if the slice of life was what Mora wanted? What if what she discovered about her father shook her very core beliefs down to the bone? What if she realized that what she thought she knew, what she thought was the world around her, was wrong?

And what if she's been running? Running from the reality of it all, wanting to return to a happy, peaceful, simple life? What if Las Lindas has been the safe haven, a place where she could live the life she wanted; a place where she could find peace, happiness, and prosperity?

…and what if reality caught up to her?

  • none of your business

Awww I wanted him to be human dam called it wrong!

    • antcow

I thought the same, It would make sense that there would be half-breeds in this world.

  • Dante

    FUCK! THAT’S HER DAD! DAAAAAAAAMN!

  • MrAMP

Well…not going to lie here, but I did not see this coming at all.

  • Grimlock64

Now who’s to say that Mora isn’t making any of this up, folks? Though it does share some traits of some of the villains in Knighthood, so that’s neat. If this is true, I think it’s interesting and I’m curious as to where this goes.

… So, hey, I’m hoping for some awesome fights in the future!

  • Hfar

Huh. I was not expecting that. And frankly, I kinda like this little twist.

  • Mewwy

I wonder what was on her mother’s mind to decide to tap that. o-o

    • Hfar

      “Nice abs?”

    • RandomRedneck

      Hey…he’s kinda hot looking.

  • RandomRedneck

Can’t say I’m super thrilled about this, but oh well. Oddly, this story choice isn’t what’s bugging me…it’s the utter lack of security. He looks like a bad dude, and a farm girl in a hoodie was easily able to sneak in. Where are the guards?

    • Hfar

      Lunch break.

  • HunterRawr

Well i think if she would have just said something to her dad he migth have had some non crazy left?

and that’s why mora left. eventually we’ll have to find out what that hospital facsimile really is, and why her dad was there. but for now, the story goes on.

Yeah, what you are seeing could be like a Bolvar Fordragon deal. His body is the ‘jail’ this THING is imprisoned in. He couldn’t just die or it would find somebody new. So he went into stasis. The thing is pissed off and may have potential followers/zealots trying to set it free. For all I know Diana was revenge or an attempt to smoke him out.

  • SushiJaguar

Somebody’s been watching too much Naruto.

    • ?

That or they read yu-yu hakisho sometime recently because those panels and his tattoos are pretty much directly stolen from when the protagonist of that series met his demon father.
Which combined with the mechs stolen straight out of Megaman Legends is setting an unfortunate (and potentially illegal?) precedent for this comic.

      • SushiJaguar

Could claim tribute. As far as I know you can’t sue someone over a tribute or a parody.

      • ?

Tributes aren’t pretty much copies line for line. It’s just lazy and says a lot about the artist when they can’t even attempt to be original and have to steal.

  • SuperVoop

Listen, I’m just waiting for Randall or Alej to go, “**sniff sniff** Hmm suddenly something smell like bullsh*t around here!”

  • Valthazar

Wow her old man looks BADASS!i did NOT expect him to be a bunny, but judging from that DARK Crimson eye, some tattoos, slightly young complexion i assume he was around during the GREAT WAR. It’s possible he may have fought against the crests during the Emperor’s Time. another cliff hanger. it’s ok, i just came from reviewing Teen Titans “Things Change” which has alot of questions and stuff and some reviews were left with “Dont give the fans what they want” situation a and keep making them want more etc.

  • http://deviantART.com ProjectWarSword

I have the right to say this. WHAT THE F*** IS THAT THING?! Is that really, HIM?! He has the same marks and look of that demon lady from the Knighthood comic! He has to be one of those monstrous things that destroyed the planet once!

  • Wolve95

Lol every body writes so much.. It’s a comic!! Good comic who cares about story.

  • Wolve95

Lets get back to rache and her sister or miles or someone nit emotionally disturbed. Oh wait that’s not possible…

  • Cyl

The content and ramifications of that reveal came out of left field. I am disappointed that the story, which has been slice-of-life, decided to tap into the backstory at this time.

All the side comics are still undeveloped. The Crest Diaries and Knighthood are our windows into the story of neo-earth. So far there isn’t much to see. There needs to be major world building before a reveal like this should be made.

What makes this so anti-climactic isn’t the fact that Mora’s dad seems to be an evil-badass. It’s that there is no buildup for him. My understanding is that current neo-earth is a happy place. All action happened a long time ago. Whatever the primes did has very little bearing on Mora’s story beyond of breadth and ken of setting. The readers have seen an innocent world thus far. Where people go to malls, parties, and pizza joints. There’s no corruption to be found in this world. Yeah there’s crime but that’s not the world destroying evil that this reveal is pointing towards.

Thus far there has been very little world building. Everyone who lives on that farm has existed in a bubble the moment they got there. They have no contact with the outside world until it literally lands in their backyard. The reader has no idea what’s the state of neo-earth. It seems like a utopia. What’s the political structure? Are these troubling times? Is there an evil corporation/government bent on world domination? Why haven’t we seen any hint of them until now? I have so many questions and no place to start speculating. Lightbulbs should be going off in my head when I saw Mora’s dad. Even if its only speculation I should be able to answer at least some questions I have about the story. Instead I’m left with nothing. The bonus comics provide no information and they have had no bearing on the main story.

This reveal doesn’t jump the shark so much as catapult over a few whales. My suspension of disbelief has been obliterated. I take it that Mora’s dad is the new bad guy or something. Its been done so poorly I know I’ll be cringing over the story in the next few pages. But I want to see the where all this is going before I place any final judgements on this arc.

    • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

Ahh, so you're familiar with the background of the world, but feel that it hasn't been properly developed enough in the comic to make sense, and given that the canon bonus comics haven't developed the story far enough to expand on all that, it forces readers to require much research and searching to peace what's going on and put it all together.

      Fair enough.

Personally, I would have only added existing information into the Cast, Galleries, old website, and what not, after it was established in the comic first.

But in this case, given constraints what with this being a comic done entirely out of self-desire, I can somewhat understand why they had to make that choice. Faster pacing, but details are overlooked and left to be discovered by the readers.

Thus, creating a sign of who REALLY is a fan of the comic, and who just comes for the tig ol' bitties.

You have some interesting theories, but I don't believe Mora's father was evil. If he was entirely evil, then why did he leave Diana to protect her from himself? Why would he subject himself to what appears to be a rather uncomfortable chair and procedure?

No, I don't think Mora's father is evil… but I do believe something evil rests inside Mora's father.

      The question is… what?

    • the Confused One

In fact, instead of looking like a badass, The IV tubes make him look weak and pathetic, at least to me.

Damn her daddy looks damn evil

Amusing, comments referring to things that this comment literally steals get deleted.

  • ladd russo

i don’t get the commotion thats going on right now. Its just a comic with a story thats still in progress. I don’t get wy every one is bitching its a good story I am reading it for 1 years now and its great. i love the plot twist so i say good job and keep it coming

  • DezRaffy

I always get stuck in the comments except the comic then realise everyone is just arguing over a made up story -_-

    • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

Yes, but the fact that this story has incited so many people to write; whether to gripe and whine, admit they lost the bet thinking Mora's father was human, express interest in the developing plot twist, or do what I do and analyze this new puzzle piece that fits into a decade long story in the making…

…means they must be doing something VERY right!

  • none of your business

im depressed I was hoping her dad was human

  • none of your business

big plot hole alert she ate bacon in the first few weeks of the comic either its turkey or your dividing by zero chalo

  • Leo

    oh my…..that didn’t look pleasant :<

And I everyone else who still like this arc, if you trolls don't like it then go read someone else's comic instead of being TOTAL DICKS!

    • SushiJaguar

You deserve an e-punch in the face. Stop using the word "troll" incorrectly. You total dick.

  • Spiney

    I smell cheese.

  • Qwerts

Ok… Las Linda a slice of life when:

    - This happen on Neo Earth, which is a recreated Earth after the original one was blown up?
    - Sprite that are robot-ish fairy-ish things?
    - Mischivious Nymphs?

    Yeah, really slice of life…

Also, how all of you know it’s gonna go into some Good VS Evil thing? You don’t know what the writer have planned. It’s not because the bunny man we saw seems to be some kind of experiment that it’s gonna lead to some war-ish plot. Have you seen the notes the writer/conceptor have for the rest of the comic? Don’t think so.

Some of you say you can’t give your opinion when you’re unhappy about the story. Nobody said that. But there is whinning and voicing you disagreement. So far I’ve seen more whining than the second.

Nobody, not even me know where it’s going on, except the writer(s). So let the story unfold and wait. Perhaps it won’t go the way you think it will. And if you’re too disapointed to wait and see, then, you can go read something else. Nobody is forcing you to read Las Lindas. Though, it seems you guys want to force the creator(s) of the comic to do WHAT YOU WANT TO HAPPEN TO THE STORY. You guys are wanting your freedom of speech, but you want to deny Chalo his/her freedom of speech, freedom of creation.

Also, to people that say Chalo is copying other stuff, lemme tell you, humans have done a lot of things in the past, so it’s normal that some things seems similar from time to time or that things are almost a complete “copy” of something else.

I never saw anybody whine about Star Wars plot, even though, you could sumerise it as a fantasy medieval story set in space. The story of a young man that learn from an old paladin he’s the last of the order and with the help of the comedy duo, two thives and the said old paladin set off to rescue a princess from a stronghold overseen by an evil paladin of darkness, working for an evil emperor. Nobody ever wrote something similar to that, right? Never, no sirey!

Anyway, I enjoy the comic. I was surprised about what we saw, I actually thought that Mora’s father was at the head of the Mafia or of the company that Alej work for.

Also, I think that Mora is the Queen that we were told about, which is why Ambar took a liking to her.

But as I said, who know beside Chalo and whoever help out with the script…

So in the end, you can either: Sit in and enjoy the ride, or whine. If you really like the comic like many of you say, then, you’ll do the first.

Have a nice day everybody, whinners or not! ^^

  • Evil Emperor Proteus

I dont like the direction this is going in. Pretty sure most/all fans read the main comic for the characters and their social interactions, like a soap drama or something.

If you wanted to do dark sci-fi/fantasy/action hero stuff that should have really stayed in the Bonus Comics, which is what I thought they were for.

I mean, Mora is a badass detective now?

  • Sly

HERP DERP It’s free! That means you ALL should get on your knees and lick Chalos shitfilled ass! Because he give us this comic filled with huge asses and breast for free so we can pay him to make more for FREE! If you read this you are not allowed to have ANY other opinion than praising and asslicking!

^Read with ironic voice. Idiot logic right there.

    • Godfreid

um… yeah… sly…? shut up, noone is asking you to read this comic, you are doing it from your own free will, so if you dont like it, then gtfo. i personally like this comic, but not this particular twist per se, but at least im not COMPLAINING about it like all of you other nitwits out there, or being a total dick like you. so stfu or gtfo, is basically what im sayin

Haha, here we go again! Have fun licking ass all your life <3

      • Renadt

OMFG! You have an opinion. Good for you! Have a cookie.

    • Kurai

      Ilu

  • BadXAsh

Okay I’m a little confused here… and it’s not by the comic… Seriously you guys are going to gripe before the entire story arc is played out? We have NO idea what they have planned!

    A couple of things:

1.) Mora’s father is not a bunny… Mora gets her long ears from him! Some species of cows have long ears. If it’s a joke that’s one thing haha yeah he has long ears, but after reading some of the comments i’m *Frey Eye Squint* not really sure if some think it’s a joke or they are serious…

2.) This world is FILLED Tech. I liken it to Batman The Animated Series. Future/Past merger so that things have an old time feel to them yet they are Futuristic at the same time. They come from space and the earth had blown up. There is much more then just simple farm life to the story… So why are people all up in arms about Him being hooked up some wires?!? Yet Toot’s Mecha is legit?! You guys have NO idea what is going to happen yet! So just be patient and keep reading, they haven’t let us down yet, sometimes a story takes time to lay ground work for what is to come.

3.) It was short and confusing because we are getting a visual to the reader digest version of the story she is giving to Alej and Ran, which is just that. She is being terse with them because she doesn’t want to talk about it. They forced her hand so she’s giving them the bare minimum. We will find out more later as the story unfolds. Relax…

In short (to late i know) Cut these guys some slack will you people! They’ve kept us entertained for all this time, I’m pretty sure they aren’t sitting around thinking of ways to piss you off. Stories aren’t always so cut and dry as we would like, they are an investment, if you stick with it, it’ll pay off in the end. I for one am curious to see where this is going.

    • Lumaria

On your number one; back when I was in the Las Lindas “Bought the Farm” WoW guild the writers when asked confirmed that Mora’s father was indeed a rabbit. I since then had known this for about a year or more of time and was just quiet about it. But its true, Mora’s dad likes carrots its cannon.

      • BadXAsh

Yeah ID confirmed that as well. Hahaha So… he's a rabbit… I stand corrected. But my other points stand.

  • deathmourne

I must say I am disappointed on this page. The arc itself was building up quite well but this is way out there and I am a sci fi/fantasy fan. To me its not really answering much and delves abit too much into the whole cliche area bit mentioned by a number of others. I was expecting something abit different to provide some closure but this really doesn’t provide much at all. Granted it explains her ears but everythign else…just..falls flat. I won’t let it drive me away or anything but all in all I am disappointed on this page thats all

  • supercrazyXX

wow i wasnt especting a bunny at all i was going for the obvious bull male, but in a way that made realize about moras ears i was like “face palm with a brick, why didnt i question those since i started read this comic from the begining”, i need to open my mind a little more i cant believe it was in my face the whole time. now i got more questions in my mind like will the father once his or if free one day he might have a fight scene with milos or the whole farm crew? what are there pumping into his body some type of body enhance carrot juice? so many question looking forward to some answers. keep up the good work dood.

  • Haha Sad ;)

The fact that so many fans are disappointed is evidence enough to say that we EXPECTED something better. Key word here is “FANS”.

Ever hear the difference between fan and friend? fans aren’t nice. Some try to be, they really do. The nice ones try to offer critique because, well, they are unhappy. Sure, you’ve got your trolls here and there, but some fans want to help, so they offer their comments – and negative comments ARE helpful. In this case, the fans are saying:

“This comic has taken a wrong turn, and it was executed poorly. Please fix.”

The people who think they’re being great fans by telling the negative ones to shut up and deal with it or go away because it’s a free comic are trolling as well.

It’s clear there are ENOUGH voices of opinion from both sides.

*Both sides need to back off. *

  • Steve

I blame you readers and the so called “whiners” and “complainers” that forced Chalo to make a strip that complained and whined from the last strip of his “news strip.” If he had more time it would come in clear as crystal, but no you bitches want to hurry up the story plot to move onto the next arc and who Mora’s father is… Ssrly it’s HIS comic not yours not mine, but I don’t bitch and whine bout it cuz you guys are impatient or selfish that wants to “cookie-cut” the comic like any other mass main media. If you took your time to read this main story and the bonus stories it’ll come clear just like watching Star Wars and what not… Now can we just enjoy the comic and move on, if not feel free to leave and or help Chalo to make it better(just don’t make it Twilight-ish way.)

  • Zero

Dang… two days and this page already has nearly 200 comments….

    • Thor

To be fair, it’s more like 5 comments and nearly 200 high-pitched whines. I don’t know who is funnier: the whiners or the whiners that whine to the whiners about all the whining they do.
      &nsbp;
Either way, it’s hilarious. Thumbs up, everyone! You continue to be darling and amusing.

  • Evil Emperor Proteus

@Thor: You look like you'd be more at home on the Bioware forums.

  • MeMyself&Kai

Ah, the fans are so quick to wag fingers. But if Chalo had revealed everything, then there would be complaints that there's nothing mysterious about it anymore.

It traumatized Mora, to see her father like that. And if brings up questions I've long since written off. I always thought that Minos was the reason for Ambar's curiosity. But what if her father's current state as some sort of evil guy also contributed? Will anything happen once whatever is inside of him gets out? If it does? Does Minos know? Will Alej/Randal go to find him themselves?

Secondly, I'm surprised people are shocked at this development. The genre isn't new to the Las Lindas universe. Knighthood shows us that this is a part of Neo-Earth. As if Digit and this man are so far apart. Silly silly people.

I wish I could write the future of this comic. I'd have lots of fun stuff like: Mora goes throughout her day being plauged by the images she remembers, maybe revealing more bit by bit. Alejandra looks into it herself, but is ordered to stop by Mora, creating a new kind of conflict between them. Eventually Mora might confide in Minos, who will reveal if he knows anything about it. Which will decide what Mora wants to do, which might be to confront Ambar, Kate, or even Minos. While, of course, Miles continues to fix his plane and something happens with Rach because of it. (Not neccessarily romantic)And Sarah's spies from the festival loom around.

Ah, I'm a dreamer though. <3 Great work on the page Chalo!

  • Smilingahab

Mora found the Laboratory on the Island, apparently.

    • Smilingahab

      Err, the Island from LOST.

  • Xenocide

-facepalm- Jesus christ, guys. In my opinion, this is quite an excellent plot implement, it's still vague, but still draws the reader in. It makes you want to know more about Mora's father, right? That's what the page is going for. It will be EXPLAINED IN FURTHER DETAIL AT A LATER DATE. Stop being such impatient bastards and wait for it.

  • MykelTDT

People are complaining about an anticlimax spoiling the reveal? WHAT reveal? We're revealed only that Mora's dad is some kind of demony-bunny-primey thing. That's not a reveal, it's a tease. And it worked. :0
I'm so on board. For the last little while, the story of Las Lindas has been edging closer and closer to the story of the Primes, of Neo-Earth, and the Crests. I love the homey little tales of the farm, but a taste of fantasy once in a while is a great thing; a subtle way to remind us that there's something strange and fantastic hidden under the surface here. Even as we relate to the characters' human natures and motivations, and grow attached to them for being normal and flawed sometimes, impressive and beautiful at other times, still we know there's something building out of sight that's so wild and amazing only the creators could imagine it.
This is good storytelling people. We get a little bit of everything, and only when the time is right. I'm thrilled. :3

Guys, we're getting out of hand here. You're all acting like IT'S THE LAST FUCKING PAGE! BUT IT ISN'T! We have absolutely no idea where this is leading. We still have another 2-3 pages left of this before we get an answer that explains what the hell is going on here. Right now there seems to be a few groups of people here:

    1. People who bash others for having opinions. ("IT FREE! STOP COMPLAINING AND ENJOY ZE BOOBIES!")
    2. Speculators trying to make sense of the situation, but in the end are just speculators. ("Maybe this this and this is going to happen next.")
    3. Ass-kissers. ("BOOBIES!")
    4. Trolls who just say, "THIS IS BAD WRITING!"
    5. People like me who knows there is something else happening here and are waiting for that ever so distant few pages explaining what the hell is going on.

This isn't (hopefully) the last page of this arc, I'm a long time fan of this comic and have read it beginning to end (I find it very fan servicey "BOOBIES" but I like the character interactions). Needless to say I was disappointed with this reveal as I thought it came out of nowhere, but as a writer I know that this particular twist can have something really going for it if executed right (a first faulty swing of the sword can be made up for by retaliating with a better strike), or maybe this is the better strike leading up to a fantastic strike that will make sense to all of us (though that is really wishful thinking, this will be a hard task to do if it is). All I'm saying is we have no idea what will happen, and we have to remember that this isn't over and that we can only see where it will take us then.

    • Cyrad

You MIGHT have a good point if it weren't for the fact that the author admitted this is going no where, which is a major reason why people are criticizing the writing.

    • Blue Sly

The phrase "a first faulty swing of the sword can be made up for by retaliating with a better strike" you said sounds very deep and meaningful.

  • Abyss Phantasia

GREEEAAAAAT. Her dad work for Shocker…..

  • Marik

Great storyline Chalo, but the answer to the question of Mora's Dad was a bit disappointing. I get what you were trying to do with it (set up future stories) and it's not that it was a bad answer to the question that was on everyone's minds, it just wasn't as good as the arc it was placed in.

Las Lindas has always had a fantasy element to it, but the sudden addition of this darker fantasy tone seemed to come out of nowhere and felt a bit jarring. We have to remember that side comics are just that, side comics, and while it's a great idea to put background into the side comics for those who want to delve deeper into the lore, it's not a good idea when you suddenly force information from those side stories into the main one without any prior buildup.

With that said, I'm still looking forward to seeing how Alej reacts to Mora being so unwilling to talk and what Alej will do from this point out. So apart from the Mora's Dad business and the sudden addition of a dark fantasy overtone, this story arc is one I've been waiting to see concluded for a long time and it has been an amazing emotional roller coaster ride. Can't wait to see the next few pages.

  • Aero

Ohoho what a twist, I seriously did not see that coming, but I am liking this term reminds me of something you'd seen in a manga Haha. I can't believe it took me this long to get Mora's ears I face palmer myself at it. Though I like this, I'm kind of a fan of hybrids Haha.

Now I have to say this, probably just me who thinks this, but the way he looks and that evil glare and such….anyone else get an FmA:Bh vibe with the "father" in that story? Haha.

  • therocc

this new arc should make this comic a little more interesting.

  • Flyboy1945

At least we know where Mora gets her ears.

  • Randomradon

Have read some of the comments and people have been saying that they wouldn't like a "science fiction" aspect to this relatively slice of life comic. Well I don't think that this next arc will be all that science fictiony, he probably going through some medical procedure like testing those giant muscles or something (I'm not a doctor, i don't know). Plus he is pulling out of an arc that has been going for a while now he needs to get something that is easy to write, it happens to me. So relx, sit back and enjoy the ride.

    • Randomradon

      I have* (not have)

    • Randomradon

      Or, he is in prison.

  • Halofira7

So it seems that Mora's father is wither a being of incredible and deadly power or being turned into one. For all intents and purposes I kind of hope that he is one of the evil "Crests".

  • derterifii

I dunno. I'm not digging how things are rolling so much. Mora's father was a… science experiment? I hate to say it, I REALLY hate to say it, as I've loved the series up until now, but this just feels like a poor attempt to make things dramatic, for the sake of making things dramatic.
Alej isn't a frigid ice queen, anymore. yeah! whoo! party at my place! we get to explain why she was so cold. sweet. fun times. then we get to hear why Mora left in the first place…. and this is what we get. "I was searching for my father to get answers, I got 'em, and I didn't like them one bit."
I dunno. I think what gets to me the most is that this is a big twist. and it was handled poorly. no build-up, no suspense, nothing. just shoves it in your face, and walks of.

  • Runic

I think it is funny that the people whining about the writing of the comic and how it is no longer the slice of life are also whining about how the reveal here is handled poorly and doesn't reflect common composition for such a reveal. Isn't the whole point of a slice of life to handle aspects of life itself and present it to the audience with a lens to look at? Wouldn't an unexpected surprise be more reflecting of real life if it was handled like this, compared to dramatically set up and presented?
This is a secret she kept and also reflects something of a weakness in her (she has fear). Naturally she would probably blurt out the reveal and try to hide as much of it as she could at the same time. The reveal matches how her character would present the information: not as a story teller playing drama, but as someone scare, probably a little ashamed and harried to tell it at all. So I have to say this still fits with the characters and tone of the story.

As for it's place in the world, well aside from the extended universe from the bonus comics that prepared this sort of thing, there is also digit and other hints of technology and science. It is foolish to think a world with such, and that actively demonstrates flaws of morality and character in the inhabitants, would not have at some point looked at the tech and science here and used it for darker means. That the main story has been protected from it is understandable, but that it doesn't fit in the world at all is just not true. I suppose it could also be seen as a growth from the isolation and childishness of the farm at the start to a more competitive and adult place, thereby opening it up to darker things and greater responsibilities, including this darker sci-fi. Sort of like taking off the protective veil to show that not all is as safe with the sciences used, that the war in the past still has effects today, and that sort of thing.

  • Herp Derpson

I'm going to have to side with all the people saying this was handled badly…

It should have stopped at the reveal.

Remember when it was revealed that the character are aliens? For me, that came out of nowhere… This is just like that. I think it was aliens… it was back in 2006… Yeah, it's been that long since the sci-fi/fantasy aspect of this has been mentioned.

This is just my opinion, having the world building as a separate, still-being-written bonus comic is a bit silly.

If you don't tell people it's relevant information, they're going to get annoyed when the story takes a seemingly random turn.

Also, it doesn't help that the "sci-fi/fantasy" parts are done as a very small story arc between lots and lots of "spice of life" and then never mentioned again…

It's bad storytelling. Sorry, but it is. If your readers have to do research off of their own back just to get what is going on, you're not telling the story properly.

  • Sean

First off, everyone has a right to voice their opinion, it's a lot easier to agree with that statement when the opinion stated is also your own.

Yes, some people are trolling and some people are just TOO passionate about expressing their displeasure about this comic.

The classic "no one is forcing you to read it" defense doesn't work here because they were reading it and enjoying it just like you probably were but something about THIS particular comic threw them off.

Yes, this was handled poorly. That doesn't mean this is the end of the world. This kind of stuff happens VERY frequently even in "professional" comics all the time with "professional" writing teams and editors.

I would point out that there is more being shown here than told and while normally for a visual comic that is good, but since Mora is telling a story, it's terrible. For her to basically agree to tell this story and then basically say "It was terrifying! It wasn't a hospital! Don't make me say anymore!" It shouldn't have shown a picture of her father because she didn't explain anything about what she saw really. Those descriptions do NOTHING for the people she is talking to. When Mora started to break down, it should have broken out there and showed her in terror at remembering what she saw. To literally rip you out of the story she is telling and the look on her face would be enough to show the two they shouldn't push her any further and pass that feeling of dread on to them.

Considering so many fans have found better ways to show this exact same comic is a testament to how much they care and that the comic isn't "broken". This doesn't need to be changed but I think what most fans want is to see some more effort to prevent things from falling this flat. Not to mention I'm sure more people were worked up that this is what they got after a story comic being missed just to say we can now throw more money at Chalo. Not that it's a bad thing, Chalo needs money like everyone else but to devote a comic to it, I'm sure I'm not the only one that would have been fine with a blog and an extra panel saying to read the blog.

  • allianna rene

Well I don't care what anyone else says in the comments. I faithfully read this webcomic everytime it updates and I think this was a good twist in the storyline that will foreshadow into upcoming events. KEEP IT UP! :) <3

  • johnwolf

ok, i'm kinda shocked that people say THIS is a lack of originality? think guys, he's in a hospital, he is bound and have tubes on him, mora's mom is PAYING for him staying there. he's clearly trying to fight off what ever he was becomeing, i'm now intrested in what he turns into. we have one antagonist done, we need another one. WTF, guys, why do you guys hate SO MUCH. it'll be lamer if he is never brought up ever again.

    • tantrumspiral

Prob'ly because it just jumped out of fucking nowhere with no build-up whatsoever and is never to be remembered for a long time and has quite a weak bind with this comic's (not the universe) setting? And makes little to no sense?

  • ScorpDK

hmmm, someone should really comb through the comments and see how many of the different names are actually from the same IP :o

Yeah, it wasn't handled like you would expect it to be, because we're not going into details about Mora's dad (yet), anyhow. He was mentioned, we got a small glimpse of him, and that's that. He won't be mentioned for quite a while. If his closeup was the final frame, how many would expect to see more of him next week, and then whine because there won't be anything? He avoided that by putting it in the middle.

  • thatoneguy

her father almost looks like one of the guys from the side comics…knighthood i think. creepy.

  • unthinkably swag

someone has been playing saints row the 3rd.
Cause thas like the best explanation for this twist.

Oh and that dude mora is banging, he came out of the same shop, if you know what i mean.
This might be that so called "wincest".

  • A Lurker

I've been following Las Lindas for a while now, and I've enjoyed it thus far; however, this page really was a catastrophic let down.

I wouldn't have minded if the author took a week off to flesh out his ideas, but to just leave off the climax for later when they finally get Mora to spill the beans on her motivations is just beyond simple teasing: It's a cockblock.

Anything would've been preferable to this.

  • Layle

I hate when someone works super hard on something and the first person to view it bashes it. Seriously guys, I bet Chalo worked hard on this. Just enjoy it.

    • Anonymous

We are enjoying it, that's why we are criticizing it, because we care about the comic.

    • derterifii

… do I really need to explain what's wrong with this statement?
      oh well…
      1) hard work does not always mean quality product.
      2) pretty pictures do not excuse poor writing.
      3) we're not dealing with a five-year-old who drew you a picture in kindergarten. so if we feel that there's something amiss, we should be able to express that.
to quote Nia, and in extension, Linkara: "If it's a professionally produced and distributed item it should be fair game for review/criticism."

This reveal was handled poorly, and no amount of hard work is going to cover that. that said, We're not going to enjoy something just because the creator worked hard on it. otherwise, how will they learn? we're not going "This comic sucks now! it's ruined! RAWR!!"
we're simply stating that this twist was not well thought out. there was no build up, no suspense, just shove-it-in-your-face only to fade into the darkness in a little bit.
so, no. we're not going to "just enjoy it" we're going to point out the issues.

  • hfjedut

Man this shit is so wrong in so many motherfuсking levels yo…I was talking to one of my white friends and he sent me 3 videos with the name only labeled “Boku” I said to this dude, What’s this shit? I… don't know if I should be offended, confused, or both.

    • Makai

Dude, shut up. I don't care what skin color you have, you're just the pure definition of a ignorant moronic dumbass I.E. a true nigger and you know what, I find that just simply pathetic.

      • Neku

It's pretty much a letter for letter quote from a youtube comment about not watching Boku. The subtitles of it are the same as his comment.
It's probably not so much racism as it is just being stupid.

      • Anon

You guys need to get out and about in the internet more. There are other (and a hell lot better) things out there than Las Lindas

  • Eltharrion

…Why was I expecting at least half a dozen Tekken 3 trough 5 comments, and got none for the amount of comments I read?

  • Makai

Honestly, this was anti-climatic for the build up that Chalo presented for us. During something like this I was hoping for a far greater explination for why he's chained up but this leaves everything just as open-ended as before. It doesn't answer and questions nor does it raise anymore aside from "What is he locked away?" That's it. I mean I suppose this is to entice a greater sense of curiosity but in all honesty, it doesn't for me. Its not even a tease or a foreshadowing of what's to come. In many ways he might as well not have shown what Mora's father even looked like. I dunno I wish I could sit down and actually talk to Chalo whether in person or hell, even just through email and ask him questions about his comics and bounce ideas back and forth with him and try to understand what he's trying to accomplish and I'm sure a lot of people will find what I'm saying confusing or insulting or offensive but its how I feel. I was somewhat let down by this because Mora clearly knows more that what she's letting on but doesn't really leave you with a sense of whether of not this guy is "good" or "evil" because I've read a lot of comics and mangas, watched countless animes and tv shows and I have a pretty strong hunch as to how events will transpired. Hell I said that roughly 10 pages ago and even prediction has been right on the dot thus far but I dunno. Again I would like to talk to Chalo personally but I doubt he has the time because he seems like a busy guy to me and I respect that and I do wish I had his talent for artwork

Huh…So her dad's somesort of evil super soldier? O_O

Is he even a bull? he looks more like an evil, demonic rabbit…

  • Nighthawke

I can see why Minos was sent to the farm now. The Primes had the foresight to do so considering the mystery surrounding her father's history. Mora is in need of some serious protection if he returns. And will prove to be epic on par with DragonBall Z if it goes down.

I can hear Morricone's showdown theme from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly playing now, yikes!

This is not over yet folks, the pieces are sliding into place, it's not the climax you are looking for, only bits and pieces coming together. Chalo seems to love stringing this out into an epic and it will prove to be if done properly.

    • MadLarry

      *snerk*

On par with DBZ? Really? If it's anywhere near as epic as the Cell Saga I'll eat my fedora.

  • Byakuran

.-. Chalo must be kinda stressed with all of these bad ratings from some of these "Fans" by now. I would be if I was in his place…

  • Biblioholic

The shock of seeing her father naked has broken Mora's mind. She can't speak of it, it is too horrible, too absolutely horrible, the peniiisssssssss.

  • Biblioholic

Seriously though, the fact that we are seeing what Mora refuses to tell the others is NOT that bad of a problem. Not SEVENTY NINE FUCKING PAGES OF BLAH BLAH BLAH THIS IS BAD BLAH BLAH BLAH it's ok NO ITS BAD BLAH BLAH BLAH WE WANT EVERYONE TO AGREEE THAT THIS IS BAD AND WE WILL ALL ANNOY YOU UNTIL YOU SAY THAT YOU AGREE WITH US

The fantastic artist need not be a fantastic writer. Sometimes people make mistakes. This mistake is not worth 79 presses of the page up button.

    Seriously?

    Let it go.

People are allowed to be incredulous that you hate this that much.

This has been an interesting story so far. To those of you who dislike what's happened recently in the comic I say this: Keep reading, things will be revealed soon enough that may change your mind, otherwise stop reading and please stop being so inflammatory.

I can already see somewhat where this is going, and there are reasons for the seemingly sudden reconciliation between Alej and Mora. This is may not be the end of their fight, so much as a truce so as to figure out exactly what they're actually fighting about. As for the reveal, I believe it will have more impact than some of you give it credit for. This is all just my opinion though, so take it or leave it.

If you dislike where the story is going, please simply state your grievance with as little malice as possible, and discontinue your reading of it. If you enjoy something in the story, let the author/artist know what you like about it, and ignore the trolls. The first rule of the internet is: Do not feed the Trolls!

I know it is difficult sometimes, but please leave the hatred/malice out of your posts.

  • Chellby

I don't know why everyone is so shocked at the sudden cop out on the story line, remember when somebody was after
Sarah and that plot line fell off the face of the earth, the green fairies seemed to be important until they flew off, theres that plane and oh yeah does taffy still want to go to school and oh yeah the whole alej being pissed at Mora kinda got shoved under the carpet to a pity party for moras daddy issues…. Seriously… This shouldn't get everyone's panties on a bundle, this has been going on for a while.

  • Joya

Well that explains why her ears look way longer than Alej's and Minos's…but seriously this story is certainly becoming intresting…and cryptic. Well it was already like that from the get go but there certainly are a lot of loose ends with a lot of characters in the story. From who Sara's family is, To Minos's work with the High Prime etc.

  • http://insolenz.echoing.org SotiCoto

So that is where Mora got her absurdly large ears from, I take it.

Looks like some sort of lagomorph maybe…

  • http://yearofthecow.petitesymphony.com OtakuMan

I actually was thinking the same thing with your Linkara reference, and also agreed that everyone has the right to criticize a comic if they felt something lacking, off, or bad.

    But SOUTHLAND TALES?!

That's going a bit too far if you ask me. At least this comic world, story, and characters make sense. Southland Tales… well that's just a massive pile of stupid, and no quantity of additional background material could have helped that.

    "We sent monkeys through it…"

  • ?

Tolkien was a good writer and pretty much responsible for the fantasy genre as we know it today.

This is a webcomic and this twist is apparently the culmination of ten years of work, and this is the best they could do.

Comparing the two is just plain retarded.

  • Biblioholic

And ceaseless bitching and moaning of what has already been stated several times is helping how?
