A Solution

Some time later…  – Chalo   Some people might notice that there are some issues going on with the comments section.  We had several complaints of trolls running around ruining discussion of the comic for users who aren’t gigantic whiners.  Banning them and deleting their comments has caused a bit of a formatting hiccup and we’re looking into fixing that.  I’ve never banned anyone for legitimate criticism (though admittedly I reserve the right to determine what that is) but I will ban trolls and do so gladly.  So we are going to be keeping a lookout on the comments section for people who just want to pointlessly bitch.  I said pointlessly because there’s no way in hell we’re going to listen to them.  – ID

    Wonder what Tootsie's solution is?

Well lookit that! I'm first for once!

    • Zarylo

      your observation blows my mind.

  • MagicBaNaNazz

Gr8 job patches. Way to own up. (arent i puny)

    Third yahoo love this comic

  • brefin

So nice to see a smile on Alej's face.

Also, typo in the last panel. "my* personal assistant".

    • EOTW

      Maybe she has a cold?

    • http://foreverknight13.deviantart.com/ foreverknight13

Sorry, wrong reply. MY COMPUTER HATES ME

    • MarqFJA

Hey Chalo, there's a spelling mistake in the last panel: You wrote "by assistant" instead of "my assistant".

  • Victor

This whole was reached because Tootsie took charge and persevered when it came to getting Mora and Alej to settle their past difference once and for all. She should very proud :)

  • MadLarry

Taking bets, taking all bets! How long before the flame wars get here?

    • Izeya

Given that I'm commenting right now I'd say…40 minutes.

      • TLV

From the looks of things, it didn't take that long.

  • Izeya

Okay it's offical, Alej character is officially dead and has taken the form of something the exact opposite of what she was meant to be.

  • Thor

I don't see what everyone is complaining about. Patches let herself get a little obsessed and unhinged, and everyone around suffered for it. Now that she realized it, she's cleaning up her mess. This is not out of character given what we have seen of her early days of the corporate ladder climb in "Building an Empire".

    • revilnemesis3

I can't believe that for once you didn't troll.

      • Neku

It's not the first time he hasn't.

  • Chrissylacat

Well did any of you think that maybe Patches has decided she wants to work and make up for leaving Diana in her time of need and work to get the farm to where it should be? Seeing if she can top her own success story and build something more with a place that she called her home and people she called family before all this drama started, or do you just want to continue critizing a webcomic that someone found the nerve to get started because of beautiful artwork by a guy that wasn't even interested in making a webcomic and gave us all something to look forward to every week for several years now. Well all the negativity around here I wouldn't be surprise if this is the end of it and they stop giving you guys something to read.

but now that I've said that. Enjoyed the page. Wonderful art as usual Chalo! And ready to see what direction the does actually go in.

  • Ayh

    Clever girl.

How noble, she's 'resigning' at the END of that meeting, and even has mentioned someone else to run the company during her leave. How sweet.

But before she goes, look, here is HER assistant AND best friend to offer a solution to the current problem.

It's a huge gamble, and a move worthy of a world class chess player.

'Bad' result: She does lose the company, but takes Tootsie and her expertise as well as all the staff loyal to her, joins Moria, and rebuilds and crushes her old company as she knows the current head is still in the dairy business and that that company has plateaued and cannot expand any further without acquiring more land. Which it can't do because said land is owned by Moria. So while her new venture with Moria grows, it will eventually run circles around the board owned company.

Expected result: She does her song and dance as seen in the comic, looking contrite and apologetic. Even temporarily hands the company over to that other guy. Then Tootsie blows the other board members minds with the new venture AND news of the brand spanking new partnership she just formed with Moria and the potential huge profits of the energy/health drink. I mean really, there are energy drinks and health drinks, but a single drink that does both?! She'll corner the market. So guess who the board will choose to be the new permanent head of the company.

That's right, the genius bovine that turned the downturn into a huge money maker.

She'll get to rub it into the other guy's face that he HAD her company for all of a month before she just took it all away from him.

The board will NOT be threatening to throw her out again as by choosing her they'll only make themselves look bad in front of the share holders if they suddenly do a 180 and threaten her again. They'll be the ones to look unstable and flake-y.

She'll get her company back and continue to expand, get her old friend back, and even start rubbing elbows with the Prime who sent Digit to Moria.

    Well played Patches, well played.

  • RandomRedneck

She's stepping down? Huh. I was expecting like, a business partnership with Mora or something like that.

    • Izeya

Oh there will be a partnership…it's just Alej will be working under Mora.

    • Neku

Oh, quit complaining about Alej's decision and Go Get A Roomie.

Uhhh… …as much as my opinion doesn't matter, I really just think that if you don't like the comic, don't read it. Problem solved plenty of other comics to read. I am quite happy reading this but, that may be for my own taste, poor or not. My only complaint is that I have to wait a full week for the next page, but that may be for Chalos busy schedule. So because of that I forgive. In the end though, you have to think this… …Its-a-comic! It ain't real and has no tangible effect on our lives

  • Sinister

I expected as much seeing how she foreshadowed GR8 last comic. But to get into a flame war over this is pointless.

A- To those who hate Alej leaving: GET OVER IT. It's called progression and she just said she's resigning as CEO. That doesn't necessarily means she quits the company. For all we know, she may be buying a significant number of shares and make money there. That or going back into the R&D said of the company and work magic there.

B- To those defending the comic: These headcases will only get worse. Leave it alone and continue reading.

C- To the nonfans: Easy answer: STOP READING. Go somewhere else where your taste in comic plot exposition can be fulfilled.

D- To Chalo: Looking forward to next weeks page. Nuff said.

So, I covered you all now.. The war ends now!

  • daedalus

So what will she do now that she's left her company behind…

    • Nasqueron

Stepping down as a CEO and remaining in the company with a new role is so commonplace it's laughable to assume Alej will just quit and go work for Mora. She built the company up from nothing, she's had a minor breakdown and realised she doesn't want to be the top person any more but would rather do something for the company more involved with growing it and expanding or developing new lines etc.

  • http://laslindas.katbox.net/ SteelWings

Well thats a pitty. Hard work is rewarded with nothing, while little miss gets handed everything her whole life gains even more :( kind of a backwards moral.

  • http://laslindas.katbox.net/ Carbuncles

it's not a backwards moral she's clearly stepping down for her own reasons don't just assume alje always gets handed a pile of crap and mora is simply handed things she obviously has a back up plan of some sorts or she wouldn't be smiling at all while saying these things

  • http://laslindas.katbox.net/ Carbuncles

and no im not a die hard mora fan i find the other characters more interesting than alje and mora

  • http://www.furaffinity.net BlackWind

Let's not be so hasty here, perhaps she is just tying loose ends and preparing to start up with something new and improved, perhaps Alej has probably/possibly set aside some funds of her own to start up the new Gr8 sports drink plant and is planning on working with Mora outside from alexandria's intervention/supervision so the two of them can start off a new business together with Mora Providing the products ingredients and Alej pushing the product out onto the Market
    After successful sample. Trials

Red robert… It is almost safe to say you watch almost as much Disney as my wife… …scary. 0.o

  • okay

I'm confused, where does it say that she's going to start working UNDER Mora? I also find it funny how majority of the folks here nag about "It's their opinion" and then attack someone else for having an opinion of their own. Hypocrisy is a terrible thing. Can't you all just agree to disagree and let it go. Obviously the writers and artists couldn't give two fucks.

    • okay

I never commented on the writing or development for a reason. There honestly is none from any of the characters. Miles is still lazy and a dreamer, Taffy is still codependent, Rachel is still angry at the world, Sarah is still a child, Alej is still the corporate type (she was never really evil, just angry at Mora.) and Mora is still a brat. It only appears to a lot of folks that there is development because nothing has happened in the story so the characters seem all mellowed out. And technically it's more like 3 considering Minos is a crest as well and apparently has the ability to ask Amber for anything. More to the point, that is true, they could have let Alej stay in her position but as I stated before, it's all in an effort to help Mora's farm. I agree, Mora didn't deserve an apology (except for alej trying to kill her with a robot before, that was a little over the top). She may not be a demigoddess but she just might develop some lovely power from daddy's side. I never once stated that I like the way it is written nor do I dislike it. I'm neutral. Not because "I can't do better" but because it would have potential to be so much better if for one, things were fully explained instead of tossed everywhere. Honestly, I preferred the beginning when she was struggling (even if it were for about 3 pages until she seduced miles)

      • Izeya

I'm going to say this that is the sound of a natural critic who takes no sides and watches it from all angles.

Nia… I don't watch twilight. Hell, I can't even bring myself to read the book. Something about glittery vampires that just makes me snort. But that's probably because i was brought up on the " Salem's lot" and " nosferatu" vampire imagery. Oh just a recommendation, salem's lot, awesome book, terrible movie. Read the book first ;) . No offense to any twilight fans intended ^_^'. And so what if some of us are lame enought to like this junk? No ones pointing a gun at yer' head or chanting " one of us…" in that creepy monotone, though of that is happening, I suggest you make like Sage and "FLEE!".Agh! Ha ha I've been following this comic for a while but only recently felt like posting in the midst of all this Tom foolery.

It's funny how some people here feel they have the god given right to dictate what is good and bad writting. Which is hilarious to think that only one side of an opinion can be the only " right" way. Get off your high horses people. It's disgusting. I hope the writer and artist don't take this garbage seriously. Which I assume they don't since they leave these boards open.

To the writers and artist. Be proud of what you do. Snooki from jersey shore is an idiot but has said something I thought was great. When she saw the episode of south park making fun of her she said " she made it" . . . I hate snooks but she's right. Wether negative or positive, just be glad they are talking about you. You are that big of a deal. You provide entertainment that hell, people donate money to. Love what you do and remember, for every fan you make you got a critic who will try and negate it. You guys got something nice here in my opinion. But none of these fools have the title of judge, jury,or executioner.

Plus I am a creeper Here.i just read cause I enjoy. So wether good or bad. Don't reply to this. Cause I won't dignify this senseless troll war any further than this post, and sorry for spelling errors. On mobile device.

  • Leo Murat

Im so glad Patches is smiling again ^^

  • okay

Furthermore the consistent arguments here are rather pointless and have gotten tasteless. For one, Nia enjoys attacking the comic for whatever the reason may be. If you go against his/her words you are a knight, kissing ass, or apparently a drone. It's the same response over and over again. The "Knights" as they've been called repeat the same thing "You can't do better, don't read if you don't like, yada yada." Which in turn brings back Nia and the Criticism Crew. You might as well not say anything good or bad about the comic because either one of them are just going to attack you. Apparently no one is entitled to an opinion here.

    • MadLarry

Pointless? Yes. Tasteless? Absolutely. Retarded on both sides? No fuckin' doubt.

But it's fun as hell to watch, now shove off and let me enjoy my popcorn and comment war.

  • CastMaster

I can see a few ways this can go…..

    1) Alej will do as she says and steps down giving it to Mr. Douche and she starts over with Mora helping her build a new empire on Las Lindas…

    2) Alej begins to step down but Mr. Douche steps up and tells Alej that there will be no need for her to step down for she came to her senses so to speak and stops all idea on taking over the company leaving her in charge…..

    3) Same as number 1 but starts elsewhere using produce made at Las Lindas to create a whole new line of Gr8 drinks….

    • CastMaster

Crap hit post when I wasnt ready lol……

But I dont see Alej bowing down to Mora she just wants to restart a friendship that was almost lost all those years ago….

      • http://www.furaffinity.net BlackWind

Well if you read my post above I believe that my hypothetical scenario could be the outcome for Alejandra if everything goes that way, and if not well it was a guess on my part

  • Simply Put

For every white-knighting post that has poor spelling, grammatical errors, lack of punctuation, and other means of butchering the English language, your opinion is null and void. If the people with the negative point of view can take the time to tell the difference between "your" and "you're", so can you, and it's fucking lazy on your part not to.

But then again, I shouldn't hold my breath for this community.

    • CuriousKitty22

I take offense at this comment. ;) (Not really)
But then again, I'm attempting to convey the intelligence and dedication to the comic that the critique-comments pose, versus the misinterpretation of said comments as attacks and people actually disliking the comic as a whole.

Unfortunately, grammar and spelling are a highly different battlefield for many. Only a select few actually utilize proper writing to its fullest anymore. X3

Though that doesn't necessarily reflect their intellect. Simply a computerized age, where language is no where near as appreciated as it should be.

My mother had a co-worker whose daughter majored in English and is attempting to find a job. She applied to a school in South Carolina, had her interview, and when she asked if they would aid her in the move (financially) from New York to SC, they actually told her that if she were a Maths or Science professor they would, but as-is they would not. Her mother responded with "What good are maths and science if you don't know how to spell them?"

One thing is for sure: When I have children, they will use proper English or face the wrath of Momma. XD

    • Nasqueron

Simply Put, go read some of Nia's posts and then have a rethink.

      "muster and critism"
"even if he pulls and M.Night"
"a giant drum set falling an infinite number of stairs"
      "Your joking right"
"I rather be jealous of something good"
"I guess by that logic all arguments for Twilight, Michael Bay movies, Avatar and Promethues should immediately be mute." (Film was Prometheus and the correct word is "moot" not "mute"
"Quite entertaining, but no sadly we aren't living in a land of fairy's and puppy dogs like you do. The war won't end, and you can go back to kissing the writers ass" (apostrophe in "fairy's" is wrong and "writer's ass" should have one to denote ownership)
"Well ofcourse they couldn't give two fucks. Why should they, they have their legion of obedient drones who'll defend this comic no matter what, hell if everyone send them messages with constructive critism, being polite and well spoken, they still wouldn't give a flying fuck because they are to stuck up inside their own frickin' arse." (some of note- "ofcourse" is not a word, it's two; should be "sent" not "send"; should be "too" not "to" stuck up

      • Simply Put

Haven't been around long enough in the comments section to see that. Damn, I stand corrected for once.

You're right, though. Neither side is exempt from the ruling, I just haven't been around long enough to see it from those who oppose. I guess it also has to do with the sea of supporters who are willing to shout "TROLL" and scream until they're blue in the face. I don't pay as much mind to the other half when those guys start flailing their arms around and throwing their fits.

Oh, and while I'm on it, I'm extremely amused by mediocre terms such as "troll" and "flame" to describe the people who bring negative opinion, and the things they say to convey it. There is a more eloquent way of saying things without having to refer to poor Internet jargon, such as 'antagonist'/'antagonizing'.

Which will you take more seriously when a doctor is referring to a female's chest: 'boobies' or 'breasts'? Granted, none of you are doctors (or, I don't believe any of you are), but if a doctor says the former, you're going to either giggle or think less of them as a professional. It's a very crude term, after all.

If you're going to try and persuade someone else that the way they're thinking is wrong, use better language. All I'm saying.

Also, the second half of this reply isn't directed at you, Nasqueron.

      • Nasqueron

@Simply Put, I do agree on much of what you said, I tend to pass over grammar and spelling issues unless someone starts using them as insults and makes mistakes themselves.

The problem on here though is that people (as you said) jump to calling people trolls simply for putting a negative opinion – but we should also recognise that trolling is posting something to wind people up and get a reaction.

There is are various lines between saying you don't like the way the author has written a plot; saying it and offering a useful opinion or an intelligent criticism; and simply calling people who like the comment drones or insulting the author.

      • Nasqueron

Hmm, I changed the way I wrote the last sentence from 2 parts to 3, so should have read "there are various". The word in the last line should be "comic" not "comment".

  • Kobra

I got to say I'm extremely disappointed at the direction Al went here. Giving up everything she has ever worked for and all her money to work with that Marry Sue heffer?! If she really wanted to help or make up so bad it's better to do that while she's still on top. Stupid stupid move.

    • Nasqueron

Resigning as CEO and continuing to work for the company in a more active role is extremely commonplace. You can resign as CEO and still have major say in the company – hell just look at Steve Jobs – quit as CEO in August 2011 and stayed on as Chairman of the board and director though of course he tragically died in October. As did Michael Woodford the CEO of Olympus who discovered all their dodgy payments and was sacked for his troubles, yet he remained on the company's board of directors.

      • Kobra

Wouldn't have that much of a problem if that was it. Problem is the way she's wording it it sounds like she's leaving all together which is just stupid. She really didn't do that dad a thing to warrant quieting.

    • Albert

You are so right. Letting the board turn on her because she was behaving like a psychopath and losing it all was a much better route to go. I am sure that they would have understood her wasting all that money and her violent outbursts and her crazy plans and not bulldozing the farm when she said she would and every other inconsistency she went through this whole time. She could just say 'I am sorry board members that I was at the edge of losing my mind. I was just having a bad time. Can I have my position back at the head of the board?' 'And they would say sure you can. We will just pretend all the things you have done didn't happen. Come right in and it will be business as usual' And I suppose that would have been more realistic for you right? People are going on about how unrealistic the amount of time it took for Alej to forgive Mora but you want the board to forgive Alej for the crazy way she has been behaving in just as little time? Or maybe you would like her to just go and pull another company out of her butt and sell her new ideas with that right? Honestly are half the people who comment on this board below the age of ten or something

  • RKC

Wow some people are so butthurt about it. Tell me, how many of you are going to stop reading it altogether, after all if you don't like it, why continue reading into something you don't like? Sure you are probably hoping it does get good later on but you can stop whenever you want to.
While I do like Alej for her strong business type of attitude and from the Building an Empire sidestory goes to show how much effort and hard working she is but she wasn't exactly a good person. I an assume her ruthless and coldhearted attitude was the reason why her spirit didn't awoken until recently when she finally open up her heart.
Either way as any other webcomic well story in general, this is a huge turning point for her which is normally a good thing as it will make her into a better character for herself. I have faith that Charlo know what he's doing so I definitely want to see how this will turned out.

    • CuriousKitty22

Perhaps the reason they are upset is because they ENJOY the story, and want to see it at its best, where they KNOW the author can take it. Whether it's creativity loss, emotional or mental stress, physical exhaustion, or a motley of other outside influences on the storyline, this last arc was not composed as well as it could have been. Unfortunately, most seem to take the critique as an attack, and don't see the underlying desire to see the project continue at its strongest, and to see the longevity of the project strengthened versus the route it is currently taking. The majority of complaint is simply with the immediate change of heart, the flimsy storyline (that had to be explained by a side-story, which shouldn't happen with a main plot), and just the overall lack of OOMPH behind this last arc.

If anything, the critiques are proof that people really want to see Chalo go as far as possible, and want the comic to be at its best. That's the kind of support you can only ask for, and rarely anyone actually receives.

I write, I know how difficult it is to get decent feedback from people. It's the feedback that helps you grow as a writer, that helps you see where you could do better, or that tells you "Hey, it's alright if you need a break to get your bearings", that really matters.

Support is nice. But when a person is truly engrossed in the story and cares enough to express where something could be bettered? Then you know you're really making an impact.

These people aren't trolling, not for the most part. They're offering solid, helpful advice. And I don't think anyone intends it as an attack, merely as an expression of disappointment in something that could have been much, much stronger than it is.

HOPEFULLY, the next arc will be stronger, and Chalo has something to follow this that'll boost LL back up to its full glory. As-is, though, a weak point in a story can still break it. Encouraging the building-up and altering of a weak point to make it more believeable, easier to understand, and less like a filler-explanation, is just one way of trying to make sure the project doesn't tank, or that it retains support for the right reasons.

So these people don't dislike Las Lindas. They dislike a specific section that wasn't really polished off and rounded out before it was added. That's all that these people are conveying. Their love for a story, and their desire to see it remain a great one.

      • Kurai

        Amen good sir!

  • ScorpDK

Like Youtube comments, but without ratings :o

  • Roi

Thats nice, she got a big ass

  • CuriousKitty22

See, these comments (critiques, angry responses to said critiques, etc) are why no writer can get DECENT feedback anymore. Everyone assumes it's BAD to tell the writer "You're losing your touch, here are a couple things you could do to make this flow better", or "Here's a better plot point you could have used", or even "We understand this kind of consistant creativity is difficult to pump out, and that you make at least part of your income off of this particular project, but in cases like this, where quality has begun to dwindle, it might be beneficial both to the longevity of the project and your own creative health to take a break and re-think where you're heading with this, because as-is, you seem to be driving all over the place in a vehicle that's reaching its last legs. I'd like to see you in a fully-functioning all-terrain vehicle, but still able to follow the path you've lain out in front of yourself without making everyone go 'huh'?".

As a writer, myself, I can honestly say that it's disappointing when people blindly praise what you've written and don't give you any real feedback on what's good, what isn't, what could be improved. And sometimes you lose sight of the long run, or get bored and try to rush things, or all assortments of creativity-blocks, and having people there to show true devotion to the story by demanding you be as good as you can be is the HELPFUL thing to do. Not advocate for a plot that is going downhill and allow the author to begin ignoring the overall storyline.

Here, I think, the issue is that people are seeing a story that could be GREAT turning into "good" and then "mediocre", and the comments are intended as a way of encouraging the bettering of the story, and keeping it going as wonderfully as possible. Versus condoning the downward slope, which says you don't really care about the story enough to invest time and energy into encouraging the writer to be the best they can be.

Critiques are not attacks, and should not be read as such.
Trolling with a flame is an attack on either the piece or the honest-to-goodness feedback of the reader, but a critique is intended to help the writer better themselves and therefor aid in their longterm success.

Ignoring flaws doesn't help the author or the project in the long run.
Obviously, if people are coming back despite the issues, it's because they SUPPORT the project and want to see it be good. Rather than for the sake of attacking it, as those of you who are attacking the critiques seem to think.

They could stop reading, yes. But that wouldn't be beneficial to the project, or to the writing. Sticking it out, offering advice/opinions in a respectful manner, discussing the characters and plot and mishandling — that is.

Just a note for consideration. Since all the bickering and accusing people of being non-supportive or not understanding how difficult it is to write a piece seems to me, at least, to be horribly misplaced.

As a writer, I say this: Critiques are gold. I wish more people had the courage and intelligence to offer them.

As a side note, I will also mention that while I enjoy the story overall, and the art is fantastic, I have to agree that this last arc took the pacing, the plot, etc on a downward spiral. It's saddening to see something you enjoy so much, which you know could be SO phenomenal, and watch it deteriorate.

If the time is taken, and thought is given to how to make this arc strong, and give the characters back the strength and conviction they had before it, I think it'd help to carry the story a lot farther than this current installment.

    That's all.

    • Gaddez

Problem is that a lot of what is going on isn't critiquing, it's just ongoing whining about how terrible one of the characters is.

      • Derterifii

no, the problem is that no one can seem to tell one from the other, so everyone appears to be assuming EVERYTHING negative about the comic is a troll, or plain whining.
are there people whining, yes. does that mean that they're necessarily wrong? no. they just need to word it better.
honestly, I love the art style, I love the overall story, but I'm severely disappointed with this arc, as the pacing was garbage.
things moved too fast, and offered half-assed explanations.
then people go on saying "It makes sense if you read the side stories! I don't see the problem!"
the problem is that I shouldn't HAVE to read a side story to understand the main story.
a side story should add to the universe set in place.
a standalone tale that can survive with a little help from the main project. not the other way around.
that said, ignoring that there were any side stories, ignoring that bit, the other issue that people had with this arc is that the characters have all seem to lost their grip on humanity, and are all happy and hugging, when some of them were bitter enemies, literally only a few pages ago.
so what are the common complaints?
a twist that was ruined by delivery,
        unrealistic reactions between characters,
problems that seem to have solved themselves, literally, over night,
aaaand failure to explain anything of any real importance.

I've seen people use the "It's supposed to be a feel-good comic" and I have to disagree. if it was, we wouldn't have all this turmoil. Digit wouldn't have almost died, Mora wouldn't have taken the butt of a shotgun to the back of the head, because, hey. Patches and Mora would have been best buds again AGES ago.

regardless though, feel-good comic or no, it does not excuse how poorly handled this arc was.

Sorry guys, pretty pictures and sexy cow butts do not excuse shoddy pacing.

I am a fan of the series, and I do hope it gets better, but if this is what we're going to start dealing with, I'd suggest Chalo going on hiatus for a little bit to get their bearings.

      • Albert

You hit the nail on the head. There is a fine line between whining and criticism. I have heard it many times from trolls and whiners that they love what ever it is and that is why they constantly go on about it. But most of time that is a bunch BS. If they really wanted to critic the comic you wouldn't be here whining constantly about the same thing every day. Mora forgave Alej and vice versa. We heard most of the people who are against the fact that they made up to quickly and blah blah blah. And yet here you are again saying it again. And in the next comic you will see them saying it again and again and again. Watch next comic how Izeya will be here again saying how fast Mora and Alej made up and then in the next comic and the next until he can find something else to go on about. That isn't love of something at all. You have gone beyond constructive criticism into endless and pointless griping. If you loved someone would you critize them constantly every day with excuse that you love them and you want to see the best in them. No. Because they will get tired of you and leave you or stop listening to you completely. Chalosan will decide if your advice is worth taking or not but saying it a thousand times isn't going to help. He will just start ignoring your rants and any chance of him listening to what you say will be gone. I am sure he doesn't appreciate you constantly tearing away at his work especially when half his critics probably couldn't do any better.

    • Jess

You are my hero <3 Preach the truth, hun, preach it!

  • Evil Emperor Proteus

Dont worry guys, she's obviously working some kind of angle.

  • Kobra

The festival stunt was bad I admit. But the Sports juice was doing well in the product testing and the land grab was to build on that by making new factories. The only reason she stopped was because Mora's mom was buried there. I admit that I'd like to see her be really ruthless and bulldoze the grave anyway but sadly it didn't happen. The board was hounding her because of Mr. Specs there but Al still could have turned it around. This is just because of that marry sue heffer again getting whatever she wants.

  • william

time to patch up some corporate holes. thanks to the epiphany she had, alejandra is now clearheaded enough to make some hard decisions that should help fix the non-financial problems within the company. for the rest, we turn to tootsie to see if her cute li'l head has any answers

  • extrementalis

Izeya, for one calling a comic things like "shit" or "complete junk" is not giving a critique, it is simply an insult. In my opinion, if you don't like anything about the comic then ignore it and move on to something you do like. problem solved. Also, we don't yet know where the story is yet to go so predicting it isn't necessary or appropriate.

  • MadLarry

Oh, god, I hope it's just glitching out on my end…. don't tell me someone actually deleted the comment wars.

  • Brootn4cer

Wow! All these comments. All these opinions. All these criticisms. Just, wow! I got curious this time and scrolled down below the comic and scrolled and scrolled. So much talk and talk. I'm glad I normally only stop at reading the comic. I'm enjoying the story as it unfolds and the opinions of those who love it or do not like it mean very little to me. Chalo, keep it going! Qa'Pla!

  • revilnemesis3

Did the comments only mess up at my end or is someone else noticing that some of the comments are missing and out of order?

  • RoRo

Man why are these comments down below every single comic so freaking depressing?
Do most of you people just thrive on negativity? It's like YouTube all over again.

  • jarf6

Let's put some music to this pile of garbage in what has become the comments section :D

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzuI63WfqwE

  • CastMaster

whoa is it just me or are some comments a reply to another comment and just put in a LONG string of comments……did it happen…..did the Negative Nancys break the comment section

  • Steve

Comment section seems to be messing up on my end… But still I'm enjoying the comic more and more now sense the whole father reveal is going down and everything is smoothing out… Just waiting to see Sarah's real parents soon and more of the future for Mora..

  • ScorpDK

Ahhh. Comment section looks so much nicer without all the hate… :3

  • EOTW

I don' see why everyone is labeling Vincent as a bad guy. He seems to have been acting very sensibly.

  • Thor

I don't have anything to complain about, and I feel left out.

  • Thor

I just think it's nice to see Alej acting like a competent businesspersoncowthing again instead of like a demented loon.

  • RandomRedneck

Why all the scorn for Vincent? I keep seeing people call him stuff like "An Albert Wesker douche" but he hasn't really done anything jerky. At least in my opinion.

  • http://www.furaffinity.net/user/maverikat/ MaveriKat

Hmmm… can't find my comment anywhere. Either it never got posted or because I agreed with someone who said something nasty. So I'll just speak my mind without devolving into words of hate but put forth a genuine concern. Chalo is a great artist, and I know ID Fox and Kat help him with the story… but this move was possibly the worst one yet, even more so than Mora's own harsh treatment of others and snaps of anger and then putting forth a "bad bloodnline" as if to clear the air. Alejandra has been getting the short stick in your story practically since the beginning, but never more prominent since Amber showed up. With your Bonus Comic, "Building an Empire", you showed us the inklings of just what lengths she was willing to go to, the time and fun sacrificed to get where she was. To have her just give up the company leaves a very foul taste in my mouth and leaves me at unease. I guess I shouldn't be surprised though, since you fellows did choose to CANCEL "Building an Empire"… I suppose if you don't have to show it, it doesn't matter, right? Honestly, at this point, the only thing bringing me back every week is chalo's art. The man does some very nice work and when you get a chance to talk to him,he's very polite and personable. I have nothing but respect for the man or his skill and wish him continued health and luck. I just wish that this story was given the same amount of care and forethought to match the art.

    • ID

If I may, you seem to have trouble thinking beyond the immediate action that Alej took. Many people are coming up with theories of their own on why she's doing what she's doing, and even your post admits you think Alej is capable of a lot more.

      • http://www.furaffinity.net/user/maverikat/ MaveriKat

@ID If this is the "ID" I think it is, let me say I do hope there is something good planned for Alej. To have her just give up Alexandria feels like a real punch in the gut to not only her fans, but the character herself. I've been following for awhile and even been donating money for Bonus Comics within the past two years once I got PayPal. This is something I do care about, but out of all the comics in the main storyline so far… THIS is the one that makes me feel unease. I do hope this situation gets resolved in a way that doesn't feel like it's betraying the character and the history developed for her.

        • ID

Thanks for the reply. There's also another point I'd like to make. It's been a popular rumor that we canceled Building an Empire and Dungeons and Dames. We didn't. We moved them to the normal bazaar rotation. Yes that does mean that they aren't put up on the update schedule as often but at the same time they were also the ones that were missing pages owed.

      • http://www.furaffinity.net/user/maverikat/ MaveriKat

@ID Thank you. I do hope for the best with this series. There's too much potential for it to feel like it's throwing away one of it's best characters. And now testing the waters I see where they are and that yes, those donate buttons for the comics in the Bazaar work. Looks like I can still show my support for enjoyable Bonus Comics. Thank you.

  • http://LasLindas William

Unless I'm mistaken, Alej made a grammar mistake when introducing Tootsie. She said "by" instead of "my"

  • Kurai

Stupid comments. mine was to Izeya.

  • unthinkably swag

Holy shit people are writing seven page essays in the comment section of a webcomic.

And meanwhile the fucks at hollywood are making bullshit total recall remakes, and dare call em with the original title, instead of " a remake".

Is this really where this world has come to?

  • lonlonman

    i wonder what's alej's angle here?

  • Friz

Who is the boar? Also where are the tits on this page?

  • Ben

“by personal assistant” I think you meant “my* personal assistant”

  • MadLarry

I sure hope so, I would KILL to see the comment war that kind of thing would unleash.

  • Chrissylacat

LOL exactly. When someone makes a point you go about trying to make someone look foolish for speaking their mind, just like you did. Do you feel better? Because you did not hing but make yourself look bad. If you dont like what people say then maybe you should take your own advice. Really this is sad that you have to act in this manner. I did not berate your opinion so really why do it to me, but it doesn't matter. In the end, I dont know you, and dont want to. To get so upset over a webcomic, I wo rry for your sanity

  • ElCid

Oh yes, clearly I'm insane for criticizing this comic. Anyone who doesn't see what a piece of true gold it is needs their head checked.

  • Gaddez

Disagreeing with the comic is fine, but some folks have been doing but whining in the comments for months without end at which point a well deserved "shove off" is due/

  • ElCid

And they have the right to do so, just as much as the rest of you have the right to praise every single element no matter how shitty.

  • Chrissylacat

actually I'm concerned for your insanity cuz you continue to simply come here and fight with people about their opinions on a comic *shrugs* You're opinion is your opinion but pushing it down everyones throat because you dont like how something is going is just.. foolish to me. HOwever, I am done with this debate with you. It is clearly going no where. I have my opinion you have yours. leave it at t hat

  • Chrissylacat

OKay that was.. off base LOL good way to change the subject thou lol

  • WolfieCat

All cows got horns. But the farmers usually "burn them down" so they stop growing. Please ignore my lack of good english.

  • CastMaster

ok carcino where has chalo said that only male characters have horns I can name quite of few females in the comic that have horns just to name a few…..Alej, Mora's mother, Hope, her daughter and quite a few background characters…..there are plenty of species of animals that both male and female have horns just males are more dominate than others but this is a comic and its chalo's own creative ideas to give the female characters as big of horns and chalo wants…..yes you and many others will blast this comment with your bad attitude and this is all I will say to this have a good night

  • jarf6

Oh, hello Nia. Dammit, looks like the assassin failed… again.

  • Xerdar

Wow and now the cursing…. (see angry issues) … Nia I can you see the a bombshell coming just sit back and enjoy the comic becuase.. I have a feeling you will be eating crow..

  • Just saying

Or you know, this decision MIGHT just have something to do with the irrational business decisions she was making which were dragging the company down. By the board's accounts, she had created a PR nightmare at the festival, her GR8 juice was implied to be doing poorly (or at least a business proposition where the risk outweighed the projected rewards), she was making major land purchases without informing the board for a project of questionable worth to a dairy company and which was cost a LOT to maintain (750,000 PER WEEK), especially given the subsequent decision not to actually do anything with it.

If you recall, the board was considering canning her when they met with her for exactly these decisions. Quoting Sirius: as a group they thought she had gone insane "and not as the word is casually thrown about". If she just turned up and said "I'm better", it wouldn't change much about that perception and subsequent attempts to prove it would still be met with a heavy dose of skepticism. Lacking knowledge on what caused her apparent breakdown in the first place would cause them to consistently view her with skepticism and fear a relapse. The more likely result is that they'd actually follow through with the threat and find a 'more stable' replacement for Alej.

What she's doing here is quite possibly the only course of action available to her, and ironically could actually SAVE both her reputation and her business. By owning up to her mistakes and the negative impact they've had on the company, she shows a clear mind and a capacity to make rational assessments. By offering to step down she similarly shows a willingness both to take responsibility for her actions and also to put the company before herself. Selecting Sirius as an interm replacement and providing the rationale for it shows this isn't a resignation out of spite (as one might expect given her last meeting with the board) and that some forethought went into the action. It also certainly doesn't hurt that Sirius is the only board member shown to realize her value to the company when she has her wits about her. And finally, offering a solution to the current problem serves as a peace offering to the board and shows a sense of duty and obligation while simultaneously giving her a chance to remind them of how much of an asset she is. All of these things are admirable traits in their own right and very valuable in a CEO, meaning that they'd be that much more loathe to let her go. On the whole, it's actually a fairly savvy move. Even if it doesn't end up allowing her to continue as CEO, chances are good that this course of action keeps her in good enough standing with the board to maintain sizeable influence within the company, more than could be expected were she to leave on the board's terms rather than her own. Even barring that though, this decision does more to restore her reputation than most other available options, and that alone is worth quite a bit.

  • alajalajal

We like the comic, and we know that pisses you off, and we like that even more. :)

  • okay

Wait so by default, if you like the comic you're kissing the writer's ass?

  • Izeya

No you can still like it it's just that when you dismiss someones opinion that are different than from the vast amounts of "yes men" on here as being a "hater" or a "troll" then you're kissing the writers ass.

  • Xerdar

No it not, I think you like the webcomic, you wished you had the talent the Webcomic artist / writer has.. I think you rant becuase you jealous…

I hope you come to terms with your angry issues by the way.. Take care any enjoy the next comic…

  • Xerdar

Sounds like someone needs a hug.. There there .. Let out the negative energy.. Where did you get your facts.. More name calling.. You should going into politics.. Or be a comedian because your a funny guy..

  • Izeya

You know Xerdar I love this comic. I love how after when Mora made that weak reveal about her father being a dark overlord. I love how she's the victim and deserves all the hugs and loves while Alej is giving up everything she worked for. I love how all of this is somehow Alej fault and that the only way she can make it up is to work for Mora (Because let's face it staying as head of the largest company and trying to make it stay the best in the whole market is fucking stupid). And I love LOVE how whenever someone says something different or goes against all the "love" for it they are branded as "Haters" or "Trolls" when none of them know even the true meaning of a "Hater" or a "Troll". And you know what the funny thing is, the absolute funniest thing about it?….If Nia is a troll then you should know to never feed the troll since their main goal is to get a reaction out of you HUR DUR.

  • Izeya

It's amazing that whenever someone critiques this webcomic all of a sudden they're labeled as a troll and are given the most overused excuses for a defense.

  • Leo Murat

still trolling and still failing XD god have you nothing better to do than trying to chastise someones work?

Oh thats right you don't no wonder you pick fights over a COMIC and the INTERNET! XD

    Stupid no-lifer XD

  • Izeya

Leo if you believe Nia is a troll then you should know the rules about trolls.

  • revilnemesis3

If you haven't noticed more people attack to webcomic then defending it and how is liking the webcomic automatically make someone a drone?

  • okay

I'd appreciate it if you didn't attempt to put words in my mouth thank you very much. I never said she would be working above Mora, in fact I don't care where she ends up. I simply asked why assume she's going to end up working UNDER her as majority of you keep writing. There is barely an assumption of her working WITH Mora which would more than likely be the case considering that Gr8 thing is Alej's idea. Mora didn't create the product so her ending up as in charge would be rather stupid.

  • okay

Backtracking a bit, when Alej had her little meltdown she was on her way to being booted from her own company to begin with. She had might as well resign seeing that that is the direction she was heading in. The mutt was going to take over anyways. Alej was bound to fail regardless. From the get go there was no Hope that Alej was going to "beat" Mora, she was either going to be the classical beaten villain or the classical villain turn good (which still counts as a loss) Rather than being under Mora it may be as someone already stated. Alej's product with the use of Mora's produce, Of course Mora gets part credit. Duh. Then with new success, Alej's spirit wakes up. Of course. If anyone really put any thought into this comic, you'd see that it is rather predictable and therefore there is no point in arguing over it. but her being under Mora would, again, completely shatter what's left of any rational in the comic.

  • okay

Yes, I do seriously think so. Without noticing, you've already said it for yourself. Mora does not have opposition. Alej was her only problem and just like that she's not anymore. Whether it was done in a good manner or not, Alej was not going to come out on top. And what better way than to have her pair up with the person she was feuding with. She hasn't lost everything. Lost everything would mean that her product would flop as well and apparently that hasn't happened. Why? Because it has a purpose in influencing the story in a way that will benefit Las Lindas'farm as well.

  • revilnemesis3

I highly doubt Alej will go work for Mora nor will Rachael become anything like you said, can't say anything about the last two things though.

  • Izeya

That's what it's turning out to and lets face it Alej will work for Mora it's pretty obvious that it will happen. And the whole Randal+Taffy relationship is so forced that you can practically feel it being forced upon you.

  • Izeya

I'm more than willing to bet…$50 that in the next arc we'll get that sort of scene.

  • Just saying

Seems very kneejerk, Cid. Did you read the rest of the post?

  • Just saying

And by that you mean you didn't actually read it but assumed you knew the content? Funny, considering that I never so much as mentioned Mora, or the hatred. Point of fact, the entire post focused on Alej, her actions, her relation to the board and how this choice of action can affect their perception of her. Somehow I don't think that matches your characterization of my post, with or without the sarcasm.

  • Just saying

Funny, Cid, because that doesn't sound like what I said at all. Heck, the entire post focused on Alej, the board's perception of her, and the way this course of action could pan out.

  • Nasqueron

There is a difference yes. There is also a big difference between sensible people who disagree with a comment and state the opinion and reasoning and people who simply post negative comments and personal attacks on the author purely to get a rise out of others which is by obvious definition, trolling

  • Nasqueron

How cute, you don't recognise that people can have an opinion different from yours.

Seriously though, link me your webcomic so I can read it and learn about good writing so I can offer some criticism, cheers.

  • Simply Put

Whoa there friend, you need to slow down and read over your things before you post. A+ mangling of the English language right there.

  • Albert

Yeah, no chance they could work TOGETHER. That was Chalosan's plan all along. For Alej to be Mora's slave. You figured it all out. You are a genius

  • Izeya

Yeah that's pretty much where it's headed cause let's face it, if Alej can make with Mora after years of hatred in less than half a day, and give up her spot to an Albert Wesker douche I'm pretty sure she'll be working under Mora.

  • Thor

I just figured out something to complain about, so I can be one with the forum.

*Ahem* "You all need to get some gravitar pictures going. With the exception of a few head-cases, I find it difficult to tell you apart."

    Feel my scorn, forum!

  • Kurai

Here here. All the points I've thought of and more. Well said.
